Price is also 6x that of an hd7850 card so not really good value.

Good thing then that the 295X2 is more than 6 times more powerful than a 7850.

Dual-card scaling is never 100% though :p.

So it's only 5.5 times, big deal. Try scaling 6 7850s.

It will make my electricity bill spike in one month and it will take a large casing and water cooler system to make the gpu running properly. I guess i stay with a gaming laptop for now maybe next year or another 3 years from now when the gap is really shows on the games, but for now i guess all games will look the same.

amds place is in my console, nvidia is for my leviathan (pc)

Thanks jlmurph!

The card is water cooled out of the box, with warranty. It runs cool and quiet and doesn't throttle GPU clock spees like its direct competitor, the Titan Z.

The biggest issue is the power consumption but considering it's as fast as 980 SLI at multi-monitor and 4K gaming for nearly HALF the price, this is a moot point.

Anyone who is considering 980 SLI or 295X2 should probably wait for Q1 2015 as R9 300 series should launch and we will see stronger competition. Now is a bad time to spend so much $ on either NV or AMD. If you want a stop-gap solution, you could find 2 of nearly the best cool and quiet after-market 290s for $500. Since after-market R9 290 = 290X, this is by far the best bang for the buck in the US right now compared to $660 970 SLI, $650 295X2 or the wallet cringing $1100 980 SLI:

4K and multi-monitor (3x 1080P / 3x 1200P) performance speaks for itself:

Which should be expected since the card is a lot older than the 980/970. Still, it actually run games at 4K better than 980 SLI while being cheaper, and also Crossfire currently has better framepacing than SLI. Great value for anyone gaming at 4K.

You know, AMD GPUs never conviced me. They run hot as hell, they use a lot of power (so "cheaper" is a strong word if it will cost you on a monthly bill).

And a lot of games have issues with AMD GPUs (bad optimization on the game or on AMD's driver). So it is sad to see top GPUs by AMD being crushed by mid-level NVidia ones in specific games that have (or had before patching) issues, like Unity, WD, Wolfenstein. NVidia has way more software expertise and that shows in these moments.

Why so serious? Barely anyone buys these type of cards anyway. They are complete overkill and have terrible resale value once a new line of cards is released. All that power is barely going to be used anyway.

how can anyone say this if high end cards are still having trouble to deliver locked 60fps on current games on 1080p?

As soon as Nvidia releases the Titan 2 or whatever full maxwell will be called I will get one. And you know what? I will play with it on 1080p and I still won't have all games running at a locked 60fps.

it's good card if you are a graphic designer or 3D artist or a game developer, like i said most of games in 3 to 4 years from know will only look the same, unless if you are looking for exclusive games like Star citizen with full setting (even it still use the same graphic shader for the 8th generation games ). Most of games will only look better in powerful GPU interms of Framerates, resolution and anti alisasing and some hd texture, you will be able to see a little diffrent effect utilize for the cards. Its over power card, Single 980 GTX is more then enough.

It's not about card performance it's a matter of games design and optimization, for example games like Dark soul 2 and Evil within and especially ACU is bad in optimization, heck even on 2007 games like crysis had the same problem. High end card for PC is good, but enthusiast card for gamin "only " is over price and only useful if you are game designer or 3D artist.

The reason why games run badly is irrelevant. The fact is that the games don't run well and could run better with stronger hardware. It's not like we can make the developers optimize better by buying weaker hardware. So we pretty much have to do their work for them by stocking up.
