But they can't affrod the transfer fee, so..........yeah.

Actually we're probably the only club who can afford him.

van Gaal won't be spending that money anytime soon though....

Ronaldo's home is Sporting Club Portugal.

Ronaldo's home is his bank. He declares love to who pays him better, ask his agent Jorge Mendes.

He spent 150 million this summer just gone, ontop of a further 65 million in the two windows prior to this, we also get the Adidas money in next year. You're silly to think that we can't outspend everybody.

They don't need Ronaldo as badly as they need top defenders (especially if they buy out Falcao). I suppose they could just plan on outscoring everyone....

It's only a matter of time until the bank wants that 600million that it lent them back...

We paid back the banks back in 2010 when we issued the bonds. Since then we've paid of the ~£250m PIK's and then bought back £150m of the bonds, so our debt is now only ~£350m which is really nothing for a business our size, especially when you consider in almost 5 years we've paid of £400m of debt and our revenue only continues to increase dramatically. The debt is simply not a problem.

@Outlawauron Eh we could to with a top class CB and cover for one of our full backs, but it'd be unlikely that we'd spend more than 50 mill on those two players, and I doubt we'll buy Falcao TBH. The only reason Ronaldo isn't currently playing for us is because Fergie retired a year too early, the deal was all but done, but when Fergie announced his retirement and appointed Moyes Ronaldo had second thoughts, as he still wanted to win the Decima with Real, but he simply doesn't enjoy it there anymore.

Nope! Barcelona is Messi's home just like how Real is C. Ronaldo's home! I just don't see Messi leaving Barca.

Oh come on let's be sensible here, Real Madrid is anything but his home, his home is almost certainly United, the only reason he moved to madrid is because it was his dream since he was a little kid, and it's clear that he's not enjoyed it there at all.

On topic: There are realistically only 2 teams that he could go to that have both the history and money to pull the deal off, and that's Bayern Munich and Manchester United. People who think he'd go to City are silly as they can't afford him, and they're simply not a particularily large club, he won't go to Chelsea as Mourinho is there. Arsenal and Liverpool can't afford him, and Italy is fucked so won't ever be able to afford him, and he obviously can't go to Madrid.

I do wonder why wouldn't Ronaldo enjoy being at Real Madrid.. There's something I'm missing probably.. :/

Real Madrid is a corporation that has no sentimental values in their board of directors.

I wouldn't say Ronaldo is currently unhappy. He was for a while, Madrid supporters booed him on more than a few occasions. Last year of Mourinho was a disaster for pretty much all Madrid players. Right now though everything is going great for him. He is appreciated and is doing very well. I really doubt he'd give up all the success he has in Madrid to go to United who are in sort of a slump. Maybe a few years down the line.

@AZWification He's been unhappy as the fans don't adore him like we do in Old Trafford, cumulated when we last played them in the champions league and we sung his name all night, despite the fact that he was playing for Madrid.

Oh come one, please. We had the (arguably) greatest manager of all time retire after more than a quarter of a century of being in charge and appointed a massively inexperienced manager to replace him. We were always going to struggle. Then we've gotten a top class manager in and it's taken a few months but now we have real momentum and are playing good football again, having taken 17 out of the last 24 available points, whilst slowly getting back to where a club of our size should be.

Edit: I really wish this forum had the multiquote function a lot of others have.

Didn't David Moyes have more points than van Gaal at the same point of the season? Top class indeed

Ehh.. At least with van Gaal United has a chance of participating in the Europa/Champions League! Unless something goes terribly wrong of course!
