 Well it's like IM with voice, you click on the person you want to talk to and thats it you talk to them through the mic on your computer, it is on constantly with that person, you can also make rooms of up to 9 I blieve, so good for those 4 player matches, or group playing Mario Kart.

teamspeak is a skype like program?

It is designed for multiplayer pc games. Someone has to pay or the servr but it allows almost an unlimited aount of people to talk and you could make different rooms to talk in and stuff. Skype is mtly used as a phone. Teamspeak is more idea than skype.
