Nintendo has a whole bunch of teams at its disposal. There are plenty of groups at EAD Kyoto as well as inside EAD Tokyo.

Nintendo-Online sent over a summary of their new list, which provides a look at what the different EAD departments are confirmed or speculated to be working on. View it below.

EAD Kyoto 1
– last game: Mario Kart 8
– currently working on Mario Kart 8 DLC
– confirmed to research on new two screen concepts -> new projects still in the planning phase

EAD Kyoto 2
– responsible for Wii Sports and Animal Crossing
– working on Splatoon, to be released next year
– heavily speculated to develop Animal Crossing Wii U

EAD Kyoto 3
– the Zelda team is currently developing Zelda Wii U
– co-developing Majora’s Mask 3D with Grezzo
– a completely new handheld Zelda game is speculated to be in the planning phase

 EAD Kyoto 4
– last games: New Super Mario Bros. 2/U, Pikmin 3
– currently working on Mario Maker and co-developing Yoshi’s Woolly World with Good-Feel
– speculated to (co?)-develop Project Giant Robot and Project Guard
– a new Pikmin project is likely, maybe for the New 3DS

EAD Kyoto 5
– no current projects confirmed
– likely to co-develop Star Fox Wii U

EAD Tokyo 1
– development supervision for Majora’s Mask 3D

EAD Tokyo 2
– new 3D Mario confirmed to be in development
– many possibilities for the new game, none of which are confirmed: 3D Land/3D World successor, Super Mario Galaxy 3, Super Mario Sunshine remake, or a completely new Mario game

EAD Tokyo 3
– last games: Ultimate NES Remix and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
– next projects completely unknown

You might be interested in that final department – EAD Tokyo 3. Nintendo-Online previously published aspeculative report that a third EAD Tokyo team was founded with Koichi Hayashida as producer and team leader. The site wasn’t able to confirm this since the credits of Captain Toad are too unspecific. However, Hayashida has appeared in several interviews pertaining to the game and tends to be described as producer. There’s also a picture floating around that confirms him as producer of Ultimate NES Remix.

Nintendo-Online points out how within a structure of Nintendo EAD, a producer is also the leader of a group. This gives more credence to rumors that the existence of a third EAD Tokyo group with Hayashida at the front.

I really want a single player focused 3D Mario game...

Hopefully whatever Pikmin project EAD Kyoto 4 is working on, better not be on New 3DS as exclusive, or I will be left behind... (I'm not buying another console this gen. )

But omg I hope so much there's a Nintendo Direct near christmas just like last year, which confirmed Rosalina 4 smash and Hyrule Warriors for this year btw, and some NEW GAME is announced for Wii U!!!

Hopefully something quite major like Animal Crossing U..........or at least first footage of Fire Emblem crossover.

Kyoto 1, MK8 DLC?!? and still looking at the dual screen gameplay? I thought Nintendo used to add hardware for new gameplay ideas, not the other way round. Together with Tokyo 3 hopefully they'll be doing something new.
