How many more games will reach that number before Nintendo releases their new handheld? How many of those games will be new releases, and how many have already been released? Will a N3DS exclusive game reach the million mark?

Also I would count digital sales too, but I don't know the numbers of those.

 

EDIT: Does someone know how many e-shop exclusives have sold a million copies already?

Depends on what games still come out but I would say anywhere between 40-50

I'll go with 40, but right now I can only think of Newkai Watch being the next million seller.

What else is there? I guess we could expect X2/Y2.

Lets see 35 games are million sellers (list is missing Mario Tennis).

#36: YW2.5

#37: LoZ MM 3D

#38-#39: Pokemon Z + YW3

 

Have a chance ..... maybe?

in the second 2014 half(july to december), probably 5 games will have sold 2 millions in japan only: YW2, smash, MH4U, pokemon ORAS and YW2,5.
If they keep this rithm, many more millions sellers will apear.

i bet in 55. 20 more seems reasonable.

But at the same time, the spread at the top 5 and 10 is better than the GBA's for software, so there are more titles selling more if you don't include the DS, which is the second best selling platform to date.

Depending on when they drop support for the 3DS, it could have more total global software sales than the GBA titles 1m+ combined.  It would be stretch to include the GB as well, though.  

However, in general, the numbers for many games are not that bad given the shrinking market.
