It's possible.
Somewhat anecdotal but important imho :
The X1 AC bundle hasn't popped into the top 100 2014 list on Amazon.
That tells me that it didn't really sell gangbusters before BF. Which kind of makes sense, considering how holiday sales are concentrated from BF through Dec 24th. Most likely a certain number of folks moved their X1 purchases up, moving sales from BF+ to mid November instead. Whereas PS4 probably stalled a bit in mid-November due to people wanting to wait for the much better bundle deals (2x $60 games for the same $399 as the no-game PS4 SKU!)
Secondly, X1's troubles throughout the year probably caused various headaches with production idling, storage, channel flow, etc. Smaller retailers would have been more hesitant to order many X1s, there would be a decent supply of vanilla SKUs stuffing the works, etc. So I am of the opinion that even if X1 demand skyrockets, it won't be able to hugely help MS this season to the same degree that it could have if demand had been steadier throughout the year. The more desirable SKUs could be in low supply, and sell out, leaving undesirable units still in warehouses and on shelves. While Sony seems to have GOD-TIER supplies of the new PS4 bundles out there.
The #1 rankings are impressive now for sure on the PS4 GTA bundle. We'll have to see how it shakes the next few days. If it holds #1, then Sony should easily have this in the bag. If the AC X1 bundle was in the top 100 2014 list, I'd be less confident in that belief.
