Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So, Nintendo Is The Only Gaming Company that Can Survive With No Third Party Support? If Not Who Else? (If each Company Had Their Own HW i mean)

(Not talking MS/Sony, i mean even EA/Ubisoft/etc)

Not a thread for downplaying/etc. Not a thread for Console Warzzz/etc. Just Wanted to point out that its kind of remarkable that Nintendo is probably the only company overall that can survive on No THIRD PARTY Support. *looks at WiiU*

If you think another company that can survive only on 1st party with their own hardware, then pls post on who and Discuss Why!

Thoughts and responses?

EA could possibly make a living of it'sown console I believe. FIFA, Need For Speed, Mass Effect, Madden, Battlefield, The Sims, and many more titles have sold millions and made huge profits. Ubisoft and Activision might be able to work it out, but not as successfully. None of those companies could come close to Nintendo's overall profits however.

Well, they do have by far and away the strongest first party of the three, so they're the only ones who can stay afloat on that alone.

You consider Wii U to be "surviving"?

It's still selling, therefore it is surviving.

Sony would struggle and playstation would most likely go under, they use their games as loss leaders mostly. Microsoft would leave the business, probably keep Halo/Gears and make them PC games.

EA could survive by themselves, imagine a console that was the only place you could get all the sports games. It would sell a lot IMO.

Yea, I believe so... I doubt any other company has such iconic characters or such a wide variety of IPs that sell this well even after all these years

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Possibly Microsoft ?

Since they have a huge wad of cash I would imagine that they would become the gaming industry's new progenitor because of the fact that they can sustain the development of a lot of new IPs for a long time ...

Wow, come to think of it, EA probably could just have it's own console and survive. Maybe Ubisoft too. And Activision. Can you imagine CoD being an exclusive? And Destiny would be too. I can't see any others surviving on their own at this point though, and only EA would be guaranteed to survive in the long term. Of course, if all the big third party companies became first party, there wouldn't be much third party support anywhere, and Sony and Microsoft would actually start to struggle.

...You do know what it means to survive, right? No one said "thrive." Though even with that, a case can be made with the Wii.
