Overtaking the NES is plausible but given the current circumstances I think the SNES is a safe bet.

I'm saying Genesis (so between 40M and 49M).

If the generation was as long as the PS3/360 generation then it would easily pass that, but I don't expect that. XB360 had 8 years before XB1. I think XB1 will have 5, 6 years at the most until a successor, and Xbox doesn't have a good track of selling strongly after that.

BTW @op megadrive was the European name for the Genesis, not the master system.

Won't even pass Saturn. You ask why? The world will end this week so we won't see it pass it nor ps4 20M this year.

I think US will do 60-70% of 360 LTDs (difference being casuals not coming back for Kinect2, and others jumping ship to PS4).

Globally of course it's incredibly dire compared to 360.

For that reason :

Tough question, especially as China, although recent articles show a bad reception, is still a market with high potential.
It will be less than 360 for sure as Europe is Sony-land extremely this gen and NA is not decided yet and a close race, also I think MS will end this gen way earlier than Sony despite the 10-years-plan. I guess the last system will be SNES.
