Sony = 😊

That's crazy, did Sony have any crazy deals or games that made that big of a spike last week? I must've missed something here.

Even XB1's crazy price drops and deals couldn't fade the PS4.

And it's not even Black Friday week.

When the numbers was 13m Sony claimed they shipped 13.5m. Thats exidence that vgchartz does not account for sales from retailers but shipped to retailers. If Microsoft claimed they shipped 10m the numbers should show 10m. I know vgchartz is the furthest thing from accurate numbers buut im trying to make sense of it.

VGC numbers for PS4 were 12.1 as October 4th so 1.4 million behind the 13.5 million shipped figure, which as i stated before was as of September 30th. VGC reports estimates of consoles sold to consumers not shipped to retailers. We've had nearly 2 full monts of sales since then so obviously the PS4 is current shipped number is higher then 13.5 million.

There is no was in hell every PS4 shipped is being taken off the shelves immediately and sold. There is always a PS4 on Amazon, always in walmart, toys r us etc. There are no low stock counts from what im seeing physically and im sure you know this too. VG chartz is a shipped to retailer estimate obviously, its impossible to track sales in every store across US and Canada from a logistic stand point. Even if they did ship more than the 13.5 million why is the Xbox One numbers not updated to 10 million also?

If the trend continues MSFT will make a new console four years from now, so the generation wont last as long as the 7th did.

No it's not. It's a sold to consumer estimate.

Read carefully. VGC estimates are sold to consumer. PS4 13.5 million shipped was as of SEPTEMBER 30th, nearly 2 MONTHS AGO.  XB1 NEARLY 10 million shipped as of 2 WEEKS ago.  PS4 has easily sold through that 3.5 million since August 10th when they announced OVER 10 million sold to customers. The Xbox One would have had to sell 2.5 million units minimum in last 2 weeks to be at 10 million sold to customers.  If you don't understand that, there is no exlpaining it to you.

Because VGC is sold to consumer. Sold from retailer to consumer. NOT shipped to retailer. That's why when Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo announce shipped figures they are higher than VGCs figures, and if they aren't then VGC adjusts the figures down accordingly.

Yes it is impossible to track every sale, that is why they track what they can and then extrapolate that to fit the market size. It is all explained here http://www.vgchartz.com/methodology.php

Mind explaining how they keep in contact with every retailer across US and Canada to tally every console and video game sold? You know this is virtually impossible right? My guess is they have insiders at the companies that give them more accurate numbers how how much was shipped to retailers to restock shelf space. Its impossible to talk to every store owner and every major retailer to come up with numbers thats so close to the shipped numbers. They must have a shit ton of autistic people with elephant memory working at this site that have the patience to contact every store and count up everything they sold. Even the link you sent me has what i suspected all along ------> (Consulting with publishers and manufacturers to find out how many units they are introducing into the channel) which im sure is the mostly used method since it makes the most sense and gives the most accurate number. As long as the retailers demand more consoles to restock their empty shelves it should be considered sold anyway. No one is talking to every store owner and counting sales, if thats true im considering believing what Santa Claus does is possible.

sorry noob question. Its been buggering me since i joined VGC.

Global hardware numbers aren't including Japan, EU and US right? because if it is then we're looking at more than 1.2 million sales this week! Damn
