Well the PS4 is like half the size and it doesn't have an external AC adaptor. Yet it has no overheating problems either...?

Maybe PS4 had better engineers.

That is the real story here.

I hate integrated PSU... I have a 3000 bucks amplifier sitting idle for the past 2 years because of integrated PSU... Who the fuck needs an integrated PSU in an entertainment setting ??? You have your stand in the middle of the living room ??
And I completely agree with the guy... The XBO is far more discreet than other smaller yet more "design" device.. I have an Xb 360 slim and my cable box and while smaller they stand out way more than the XBO... Yeah sure the XBO is less pretty than both... But who cares the best design for a true entertainment device is to be as discreet as possible and certainly not white it baffles me how the white SO bundles work... White is the enemy for such setting... It's simple if it's white it has no place in a dedicated room unless it can be hidden

Pretty sure Microsoft was just playing it safe. Better safe than sorry.

Also, half the size? Um...

The XB1 is a bit taller as well...

Aye, but twice as big? Hardly.

It's actually a good thing that it is big, more future-proof. One of the biggest reasons for console deaths last year (with both PS3 and 360) was lack of cooling with almost all the models, so this should certainly mitigate that. If it means making a few inches extra room in the entertainment system, so be it.

Stick the power supply brick on there and its easy twice the size requried

Well Microsofts core business is Software, not hardware, that is where they earn their billions.

Where as Sony's core business is hardware, not software, that is where they lose their billions.

The PS4 is - 2.09 x 10.83 x 12.01 inches

The XBO is - 3.1 x 10.8 x 13.1 inches

So the XBO is 61% bigger than the PS4. So yeah not twice as big but still pretty substantial.

they most probably did. i also recon MS was so afraid of another RRoD fiacso that they played it as safe as they can.

The fans inside the ps4 are quite loud compared to the xbox one, well from my experience that is. Sometimes I get worried, as it sounds unhealthy at times

Its mostly loud booting up otherwise its quiet enough 90% of the time.

My bros XBO is definitely a tad quieter though imo.

OT: Dont know why you want it to fade into the bg and be annoyed, my consoles are a talking point when people come over. Their like "hey whats that" and then Im like "a PlayStation 4" before I precede to turn it on with the blue light strip turning on and their all impressed and shit. Now I just need Morpheus and they will truely believe the future is sitting in my living room =P

I live in Australia and is fucking hot down here lol.

Still my ps4 fans are loud, and I don't know why. Kinda worried that it might be break anytime. Luckily I kept the receipt, so i can replace it or have it fixed if it does fuck up.

While the PS4's fans are a bit more loud than Xbone's fans it is not that big difference... both are less loud than 360 or PS3 for example.

The biggest sound from PS4 come from the BD drive (it is the same sound on Xbone)... after it read all the data to HDD you will won't notice the fans at all.

Both machines are really silent except the broken ones.

It is close... PS4 is 60% of the size of Xbone.

If you add the volume of the brink to Xbone it will be twice as big.
