It's actually telling how the bar keeps getting raised on what the PS4 'won't' sell this year. I seem to recall the notion of 16m being 'a stretch' and then 18m being 'preposterous'. We're now in the 19m - 20m 'possibly' area and 21m pops up.
The PS5 Exists.
So despite the constant adjustments down we're now taking vgchartz as accurate? I expect heavy under tracking especially by this point. Going from 16mil to 20mil in one month might be hard, but I'm very wary of the numbers shown on the front page.

Yeah, it is funny how things turned out :p
A few weeks back (before the 300k down adjustments), PS4 was 'according to the statistics' on its way to 21, but oh well, 20 million is fine too ; )

Every numbers I post in my threads is based of VGC numbers, but that doesn't mean I believe them to be accurate. It simply means that it will most likely reach 20 million "according to VGC" :D
Sony will definitely ship at least 20 million PS4s by the end of this year. Whether Sony will have sold that many to consumers, it'll be very close. I'm also skeptical of VGC's PS4 numbers and think that the PS4 already eclipsed 17 million as of Dec. 6.
My prediction: Between 19-20M units sold to consumers by the end of this year. Over 20M after first week of January.

I think your peak week is far too high. It will get a bit over 1 million so I think it will come in just short of 20 million.

I think most people would have to agree that the PS4 is 18.5m (at least) right now with another week to go. I've always thought 19.5m myself but still think 20m isn't insane. It's just incrdible how that 'potential' number has inreased and how the 'crazy predictions' have decreased.

The question is what that 14mn statement from the playstation experience at the beginning of December meant. If it meant Sony had sold through 14mn by the beginning of December, then VGC would be way off in the other direction, which would be weird considering the whole year of undertracking.
