Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4: 21 million sold by the of 2014? The statistics No.

Last generation, Wii was the best selling console and the most popular, this generation it is PS4. Up until now we have seen identical sales between the two, during their first year on the market. I believe it is 'okay' to use Wii's results to somehow predict this Holiday.

-----Wii 2007--------------------PS4 2014--------------------------------------

Nov 03: 296,372-----------Nov 01: 301,173 = 01.62 % (4,801)
Nov 10: 282,996-----------Nov 08: 477,401 = 68.70 % (194,405)
Nov 17: 469,651-----------Nov 15: 433,298 = 07.74 % (36,353)
Nov 24: 673,069-----------Nov 22: 570,445 = 15.25 % (102,624)
Dec 01: 699,757-----------Nov 29: 1,049,137 = 49.93 % (349,380)
Dec 08: 728,498-----------Dec 06: 752,485 = 03.29 % (23,987)
Dec 15: 686,612-----------Dec 13: 781,557 = 13.83 % (94,945)
Dec 22: 1,462,609---------Dec 20:
Dec 29: 737,820-----------Dec 27:
Jan 05: 386,299------------Jan 03:

7 Weeks: 3,827,955------7 Weeks: 4,365,496 = 14.04 % (537,541)

*Due to extensive adjustments, PS4 will most likely not reach 21 million. However, PS4 should be able to reach 20 million.

The PS4 is not a Wii. I don't think they will continue tracking together.

I don't think they'll have even shipped 21 million by the end of the year.

Possible even 22,000,000 !!!

My PS4 prediction:

22 NOV 800,000
29 NOV 1,250,000
6 DEC 900,000
13 DEC 1,200,000
20 DEC 1,500,000
27 DEC 900,000
3 JEN 300,000

Considering that VGC undertracked PS4 by some like 500K, and have sold 15M by 15 Nov, it can sell 21,5M !!!

Only problem with this theory is that the OP shows that its tracking ahead of the Wii in November.  So, they might not continue tracking together, but it is the Wii that may not be able to keep up.

If demand does go that high I can see it selling out and not matching the wii numbers. how the hell was nintendo able to manufacture so many wii's in it's first year. crazy stuff.

i think it will be good for sony if the demand grapgh follows the wii's because it means demand spilling into next year and inflated sales in the early months which will be music to sony's ears.

I'm gonna say no.

this is actually a very interesting analysis. Even more so cause there are people saying that the PS4 is not a wii yet its showing to be selling better than it for whatever reason during the same period. The numbers show that ot could happen, the way the PS4 seems to keep exceeding expectations show that it could happen.

My mind just refuses that its possible.

Possible, but we will not know until Sony tells us or until VGChartz makes its adjustments after the holidays.
