Lol no, of course not. Its actually kind of funny some people thought Wii U would be the first out of it, X1 and Vita to hit 10m.

Let's be realistic. If M$ did not throw a hail Mary with the Kinectless/Pricedrop/Heavily bundled sku's, it very well would have.  Ido not believe any of us expected Microsoft's current acts of desperation (which was a smart move I will agree).

Plenty of people saw a 350 xbox One coming this holiday after the Kinect was dropped.

Yes but not in the manner of dropping the  price to $349.99 with 2 games! Unless you're clairvoyant, lol.

perhaps if Nintendo temporarily cut the price of the console drastically and accepted huge losses

No, but I think it can reach 9.2 millions and surpass Nintendo expectations.

I think 9 million shipped maybe. I'll wait for official numbers though. I was pretty much right the last time when Nintendo official shipped numbers were released.

Q1 2013-490k vs Q1 2014-500k
Q2 2013-310k vs Q2 2014-685k
Q3 2014-410k vs Q3 2014-630k
Q4 to date 2013-310k vs Q4 to date 2014-335k
Q4 total 2013-1790k vs Q4 total-????

I don't think we should anticipate Wii U to sell vastly better this holiday than it did last year. Q1 was basically even with both receiving decent titles (2013-Lego City/DQX, 2014-Donkey Kong) but from April-July of 2013 there was absolutely nothing noteworthy while 2014 got Mario Kart right in the middle of that time frame which caused late Spring/early Summer sales to be much better than last year. Now if we look at NPD & Media Create for Sept/Oct we will see that 2013 vs 2014 sales are pretty similar.

Basically the huge 2014 up YoY is solely due to releasing one of Nintendo's biggest series during a time that had a huge drought in the previous year. From Sept onward in 2013, Wii U did start to get some big releases (Wind Waker HD, Mario 3D World) which is pretty comparable to 2014's big titles (Hyrule Warriors, Smash Bros).

I do expect Wii U to have a better holiday this year than it did last year but not by nearly the large margin it was up in the Summer from Mario Kart. Overall I would say 9-9.5 million year end.

9 million at best.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Call me an optimist, but I think they can and will (barely) do so.

Ok- your an optimist

Not gonna happen. Their numbers in October are down from 2013's numbers and to even MATCH last years numbers in 2013, they need to sell over 330k combined for week ending Nov 22nd and 29th  to even be on PACE for last years numbers they did

Then if they want sell 10m by year end ,they need to sell over 1 million more than last year. Last December they moved 1 million Wii U's for the month. They'd have to move 2 million in December to hit the 10m mark

With no significant Black Friday deals (versus the standard deals), I'm probably going with no.

Actually Bestbuy has Wii U Deluxe, Smash, Mario 3D World, DK:TF and NL for $360 with the code WIIDEAL. That's a pretty amazing deal, but many don't seem to know about it.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Actually that's not the amazing deal it's made out to be.

Wii U-$300 (3D World+Nintendo Land are pack-in titles)

Smash Bros-$60

Donkey Kong-$50

It basically comes down to, buy a Wii U+Smash Bros and get Donkey Kong for free. It's not a bad deal by any means but not the amazing kind that people expect on black friday.
