Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Xenoblade's story "basic" compared to X, main script writer returning, other details

http://www.gonintendo.com/s/242463-xenoblade-chronicles-x-to-have-a-deep-sci-fi-story

Tetsuya Takahashi, the director of Xenoblade Chronicles X took to twitter again today, this time to discuss the games plot. The folk at Siliconera have translated the tweets allowing us the gleam some new information about the game.

Firstly it was revealed the main script writer of Xenoblade Chornicles, Yuchiro Takeda, is returning for the sequel.

Takahashi then went on to say:

“After the ‘basic’ fantasy story for [Xenoblade], we’re having him write a deep sci-fi story this time around”

Takahashi went on to reiterate that Hiroyuki Sawano (who worked on Attack on Titan) is in charge off the sound direction & Kunihiko Tanaka (who has worked on a number of Xeno games) is in charge of character designs and Takahashi chose Tanaka in order to "bring out the Xeno-ness in the art".

fucking hyped! And its good to be back at Vgchartz! WOOOOH

This game cannot be anymore hyped in my mind than it already is. I WOULD love a HD release of the original game to be bundled, however I have already prepared myself to accept that Nintendo and I are not on the same page with that idea.

Xenoblade Chronicles has sold more in europe than in Japan and more in the US than europe and Japan combined, so I dont know...

"deep sci-fi" though?

The original science fiction stories dealt with how new possibilities through advances in technology would change how we as humans saw ourselves, and by extension how society would adapt to these views. They usually served as metaphorical political warnings for the contemporaries in powerful positions.

I'm not sure from watching the trailers for X that these are the themes I expect to see come through.

I expect there to be a lot of escapism and wish fulfillment going on, with some thin legged overarching political ideas to be in place to support a traditional Japanese story of radical individualism versus the power of community and self-sacrifice.

But I could stand being surprised.

And .. ? Has nothing to do with the localisationwork ;)

Game is coming in the second half of 2015, so at least 6 Months i bet.

There is no doubt this game will be the a great appetizer of the JRPG on current gen games before Final Fantasy XV and other great title to come in the future. :)
