Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Pictures Paralyzed By Computer Hacker Attack With Ominous Message

Things have come to a standstill at Sony today, after the computers in New York and around the world were infiltrated by a hacker.

As a precaution, computers in Los Angeles were shut down while the corporation deals with the breach. It has basically brought the whole global corporation to an electronic standstill. I’d heard that this began with a skull appearing on screens, and then a strangely ominous message telling users they’d been hacked by something called #GOP.

It gets more bizarre as the message claims this is just the beginning and then threatens to release documents by 11 PM this evening. There is no reason given why this is happening, and no specific demands. Mentioned are websites in places around the world, some of which don’t even function.

While Sony works this through, there are no corporate emails going in and out and you can’t use your computer and it’s hit or miss on whether calls are going to email. “We are down, completely paralyzed,” said a source.

Waiting on reaction from Sony, but if you’re not getting your calls or emails returned from Culver City, don’t take it as an insult or reason to feel small. No comment from the studio.

UPDATE: While it seems that a world-leading tech company would have be last to be brought down by a hacker, this Sony thing is serious. I’ve come across a still photo of the hacked message that appeared on screens, posted by a site called business2community.com. More when it comes in.

Those guys needs to get a life...
I do not think it is or will be affecting PSN in any way but some hacker groups out there seem to have a lot of problem with Sony (not the first time a group is targeting Sony openely like that).

Sony became a target.

How?

Hmm, pie.

Wow. That is super incredibly mega serious, if true. :O. This isn't even funny. Someone wants SONY to go bankrupt I believe. Whoever done this needs a life.

But geez, in how many hours will they release all of thier "data". What if we know the very first details of PS5, or future games, or prototypes of future tech. Maybe Smartwatch or something.

Edit: LMAO! Though this was all Sony, but it's just Sony Pictures. Ok, not as serious as it would be if every part of Sony got affected. That's something positive.

Someone's mad his DriveClub Ps+ edition hasn't arrived yet...

Wow, is this legit? God, Sony and hackers man, apparently 2011 wasn't enough for them

Not sure yet. Some other source are talking about it http://thenextweb.com/insider/2014/11/24/sony-pictures-hacked-employee-computers-offline/?%20entire%20computer%20system%20unusable

In 2011 it was also Sony Pictures being targeted if I'm not mistaken.

I wonder what their "requests" were.

Here's for hoping whoever did/does this gets caught.

No doubt in my mind theres someone at top level thats being paid to run down the company and force a buy out. There is no way in hell they never learned from their mistakes in 2011 right? PSN has been the same poor service with the same old Linux servers since 2008 and they are now forcing people to pay for it when its free on PS3 and Vita. Every time I point this out to numerous news sites I get labeled a "troll" or "fanboy".

In 2011 it was Anonymous that did the hacking, and it was SCE.

Sony Pictures? What's these hackers demands? "Make another Smurfs movies, or else"

Hmm, pie.
