People are so scared to acknowledge that gamers are willing to deal with "less graphics" if it's close enough......

If the Xbox One had Wii U graphics and had those "big multiplatform games" running at sub-720p using last gen assets, you think it would sell that well even with a price cut?

Exactly, graphics matter to the current generation of gamers, and the Xbox One has proven it can be close enough that people will buy it and take their mulitplatform games on it even with less grass

You are wrong about a number of things in this post and the other before it. All I will say though is that the "gap" isn't being closed. Thats not what is happenning here. And teh sales spike has nothing to do with a graphical gap. It has something to do with being able to get a console and two fre games for as low as $320.

But yh, lets pretend like that isn't a thing.

Sounds like if you prefer graphics you should get the PS4 Ashadian And if you want a smoother frame rate you should get it on Xbox One. Completely ignoring the PC, of course.

But I see the thread has devolved into a "our technical defenciency is better than your technical defenciency" LOL.

So a 1fps drop twice in 5 mins is equal to a 25% drop in resolution and worse AA?
Yeah ill take the much smoother X1 version

lol @ questioning the logic of my post and then confirming it one sentence later.

By the way I hope some of you understand while youre downplaying frame rate issues that the same thing can be applied to a small resolution boost. Not worth saying anything more on the matter.

It really is ironic how people keep forgetting that the Xbox One's June SDK allows developers to reallocate 10% of the the GPU's power normally dedicated to the Kinect.  "But the raw power isn't changed!!!!1111".  Considering the PS4 had no such dedicated GPU power, the Xbox One's more recent multiplats and ports have demonstrated the benefit already.

Reallocating 10% of the GPU's power to benefit graphical quality is "closing the gap".  Working with developers to maximize optimization on the Xbox One is "closing the gap".  If a game developed on the PS4 is poorly optimized, and MS sends a support team to ensures the Xbox One version is fully optimized, you can imagine the gap in quality between the two would be rather small.  It's like using 80% of 1.84 TF, or 100% of 1.31 TF.  That's not how it directly translates at all, but that is how important optimization is.  Simply look at the last generation, when developers started to finally optimize their HD development, and compare launch games to latecycle games in which the power of the console did not change.  Now that they're already up to speed, we won't see that same growth on the current generation, but pretending that multiplats on the Xbox One haven't already shown a smaller gap in graphical fidelity and performance against their PS4 counterparts as of late is ridiculous.  Unless Sony starts providing more personnel and support to assist developers, this was a smart (albeit costly) move on Microsoft's part to change the "image" of the Xbox One.

People would not buy the Xbox One if it was $320 with 2 games but had multiplats that looked like the Wii U version (sadly a good reference point for terrible third party ports).  Let's pretend the current generation isn't about graphics while the PS4 dominates the sales charts primarily because it has the best console graphics.
