Just use all three sonics for a sequel to generations.

And, no, I disagree, Generations was not a good game by any measure. Who's to say a sequel wont get it right, though? It wasn't a terrible game.. Just a bad game that wasn't terrible like the others, if that makes sense.

But, I'd be open to a sequel, sure. Also, Sonic does get sequels. Remember Sonic 4?

Your in the minority with that opinion, both games have over 8 for user score on metacritic, if ur gonna make a sequel for a sonic game might might as well do it for the ones that the fans liked the most.  I'm mainly talking about full fledged console games, I also know Sonic Rush got a sequel but that's a handheld game.

I said the game deserves a sequel, because I think if Sega tried again, they'd get it right.  That goes against your second statement slightly, because I do not like the game.  It feels stiff, and the game only seems to control properly when Sonic is under water.

I stopped trying to compare it to the genesis games.  Generations is inferior, plain and simple.  So, I looked at Generations as it's own game.  I felt a little better about it, but not much...  Then, everything went downhill after I got to Perfect Chaos.

Constantly falling through the ground.  I must have died around 8 times before finishing the level.  When you lose in platformers, or most any game, you want to feel like it's your fault.  I rarely feel like it's my fault when I die in generations.  It also feels like I'm jumping against a wind current, or something.  It's stiff.

They have the original sonic game emulated (sound is imperfect, just like mega collection + on PS2) as an unlockable.  I played it for a bit just to make sure it wasn't me.  Losing momentum when using loops should never happen.  I don't like not losing all the rings on hit.  Personally, it just makes me careless.  I actively try not to get hit in the original games.

The story was..  okay, I suppose, but nothing grand.  The graphics were fantastic, though.  That's what the game did best.  It looks really good.  It's old stages, sure, but the imagination and life is there.  But, as far as the way sonic controls?  No, it's wrong.  It's completely wrong and I wish that had been handled better.

I think the demo was worse and that is why I didn't get the game when it was new.

But, I think if there was a sequel, they could iron out the issues, get some more stages in there and have a great game.

For some reason I thought you were saying make a sequel to another sonic instead.  I don't remember falling through the ground constantly when playing the game, never felt like it was the game's fault when I died (that was actually a criticism that Sonic Colors had, difficulty spiked half way through the game, but I never heard that for Sonic Generations).  Tbh I can't remember a Sonic game that had a strong story.

No... As far as I'm concerned, Generations is the best recent Sonic game.  But, even still, it's not a good game, lol.  They just need to tweak the physics, and maybe do something about the stage design.  Sometimes, I'm running around, no area where I'm going, and I jump off a cliff to my death.

That first super huge cliff in Green Hill act 1, when I jumped off that instead of hitting the bumper like I was supposed to, it was an obvious, and fair death.  Most of the other times, it's like, "How was I supposed to know that was there?!" or, "WHY is that there?"

The funny thing is that I own all the original sonic games, but I can't think of any death cliffs, outside of the one from Mystic Cave in Sonic 2. And, now I've just started remembering more of them...

But, that's the thing too.  They're just... more planned and thought out in the older games.  In Generations, it's more random placement in Act 1, and in act 2, it's becuase you're not going the way the game wants you to go.

The story wouldn't make much sense. Sega is always trying to give Sonic a story.

Sonic only chance is if Sega approach a creative studio to develop the game, just like Nintendo do. Give Platinum a shot at doing a Sonic Game.

Like I said your in the minority with that opinion.

Never played any of the SA games so that's why its absent from the OP.

It's dated but its pretty good...

Camera is wonky, graphics are dreamcast level, audio design is :O, story is Sonic level

but its fun, thats what matters.

Trying to figure out what the fans want is exactly what got Sega into this mess. Screw metacritic, just make games 4 each individual fanbase.

OG SA2 got good scores too.

but that was years ago. Be honest do you really think had that game been released today in the same state it would have gotten good reviews? Hell no, Sonic Adventure series has a lot of problems and both games have aged terribly.

Sonic Adventure was the first of it's kind. And was great for it's time and what it set out to do.

You can say that any game released in the past would have gotten bad reviews if released today.

Because... SEGA.

They could have made several more Sonic 2D sequals aswell, just using the same exact formula of Sonic 3 and yet they never did. They always either messed the physics or tryed to introduce a new mechanic that ruins the game.

The best 3D sonic game is a fan game called Sonic fan remix. Its exactly what SEGA should have done and would have netted them millions.
