Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Doesn't Sega Make Sonic Sequels?

Sega has had trouble with a lot of recent Sonic games, but there has been some good ones like Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors.  So my question is why the hell did we even get crappy games like Sonic Lost World or Sonic Boom when Sega could have made Sonic Generations 2 or Colors 2 and made improvements to what was already a good game.

I get that Sonic Boom was made for the TV show, even so it could have been made for Sonic Generations 2 and u have the new Sonic with the scarf and the classic Sonic, I think that would have worked perfectly!  So why can't we get any Sonic sequels?  Why does there always have to be a new IP for every sonic game?

It should be: Why does Sega make Sonic sequels?

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Sonic lost world is probably my favourite Sonic game. But I would like them to do a sequel of Lost World and fix a number of minor issues that game had.

Honestly, at this point, even if they made sequels, we won't know how good or terrible they will be until they get released so imo, they need to get quality control together before making any more sonic games at all

Tbh just take Sonic generations and replace this

With this

Add some new levels and listen to the criticism that the first game got and that would have been a way better option than the crappy Sonic Boom game we got.

Just use all three sonics for a sequel to generations.

And, no, I disagree, Generations was not a good game by any measure. Who's to say a sequel wont get it right, though? It wasn't a terrible game.. Just a bad game that wasn't terrible like the others, if that makes sense.

But, I'd be open to a sequel, sure. Also, Sonic does get sequels. Remember Sonic 4?

Your in the minority with that opinion, both games have over 8 for user score on metacritic, if ur gonna make a sequel for a sonic game might might as well do it for the ones that the fans liked the most.  I'm mainly talking about full fledged console games, I also know Sonic Rush got a sequel but that's a handheld game.

See I prefer Adventure 2 to Generations even despite the priors faults. I recognize the good in both. In fact, the only thing I don't like about generations were its 3D/2.5 d sections and Sonic's slidiness. But I digress. Rather than trying to appeal to everyone in one big flop, or try and branch out with many little flops and 1 or 2 gems. Why don't they just repeat what works?

SG2 and SA3 everyone is happy more or less

Trying to figure out what the fans want is exactly what got Sega into this mess. Screw metacritic, just make games 4 each individual fanbase.

OG SA2 got good scores too.
