There best bet at least for saleswise and their talents would be to make an existing popular franchise (like MG^)

Many are suggesting Star Fox (its even an easter egg in Bayo2), i wouldn't mind them making it :)

I´m guessing they´re not a big team, so they probably only work on one title at a time, Bayonetta 2 is out and now they´re making that Scalebound game for the XB1, it´s gonna be a while till we see what they get next.

Yep, but I'd bet it will be Bayonetta 3.... as an Ouya exclusive

Heh, I think Bayonetta´s gonna be in the fridge for a very long time, if there´s ever a Bayonetta 3, that is...if Nintendo is interested in continuing their partnership with Platinum, I really doubt it´ll be another Bayo.

And there´s also a potential interest from Kojima/Konami for another MG Rising game...at least I remember reading how they were satisfied with the game´s commercial response or something.

If they make another MGR game, they better make it longer tahn 5 hours, as I was disappointed for paying $70 for a 5 hour game.

This thread makes me wonder when/if we´ll see a Platinum developed exclusive game for the PS4..Nintendo has W101 and Bayo 2, MS now has Scalebound, any Sony IPs that would be a good fit for them?

I think God Of War fits them well, though they would mess up the story.

Because they are very niche. The same way why (I assume) SO didn't sell a ton. Unless you a Mario, DK, etc popular IP you aren't gonna sell well for quirky games as these.

You can add "making games exclusive to one platform" as their newest tactic of not becoming more popular.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The problem is complex, but it basically boils down to Kamiya insulting all of their potential customers on Twitter and idiot game reviewers giving The Legend of Korra a 4/10.

Honestly it's like they make all the wrong decisions on purpose.

Why was a game like Madworld exclusive to the Wii? It was the wrong kind of game for the platform and the wrong platform for that kind of game.

Why would they develop Bayonetta exclusively for the 360? At that point it was pretty clear they were puposely avoiding developing for the PS3 where the audience for a game like Bayonetta was more important.

Vanquish was a nice attempt at catering to a western crowd but it was doomed with a publisher like Sega.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was a great opportunity to show what they were made of but it fell short of expectations.

And obviously they got screwed when the Wii U wasn't as popular as expected.

And Scalebound being published by Microsoft is again a weird decision, especially when they seem to be making the game for Japan where the XBO is pretty much doomed.

Their games are short? Have you seen what passes for a "campaign" nowadays?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm not talking about a game's length as being its campaign's length, but its value as a whole. Games with short campaigns usually have very popular multiplayer modes, which Platinum's games don't offer.

Anyone suggesting that the problem with Bayonetta is that the game-play is too 'hardcore' might want to look at the success of the Souls games and the almost certain success of Bloodborne.  The game-play has never been the problem.  Where Bayonetta fails, in relation to those titles, is that it appears to draw its creative inspiration from The Witches of Breastwick.  As I said before, it goes out of its way to make itself niche.

All points are valid.

But this covers most of it imo.

2. Platinum's games are short: Gamer's today seem to care far more about quantity than quality, and that's a problem for Platinum as their games are very good but also very short. Their games are usually 10 hours long, but one of their games MGR: R is just 5 hours long, with most of that time being cutscenes. That stops many people from buying their games even if they really want to play it.

Even fans of the genres said the games are too short. When other people told them that's one of the great things because it's about high scores, getting better and better, finding different routes and therefore the opposite of hours of an entertaining world with less action and long ways to go, they understood and slowly became score hunters themselves.

Platinum's games are games. Pick them up for a short period, rack up a nice score, build some ideas and skills for your next run. While The Walking Dead is on the one extreme side of video games where it's all about story and almost only about choices, Platinum is on the other extreme side where it's about fast paced action and although they have pretty good stories, they are quite quirky and nothing you'd believe in or get sucked into the game's world by.
