Forums - Gaming Discussion - What's up with people always being detractors in monthly/weekly sale threads?

Hi all just a question why do so many posters on here always come into certain weekly/monthly sales threads  complementing a system improved sales just to be detractors sprouting off what Iis common knowledge,

The number 1 this gen in worldwide sales will never be challenged everyone knows this why can't we all just give credit where it is due?I will say it again long live the King who will never be dethroned in this gen peace.

Why give credit to something I don't like? That would be dishonest.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Why discredit something you dont like? That just immature. There is long way between not giving credit and discrediting something.

Because positive comments are the bane of this forum. They add absolutely nothing other than another clap in the applause that is the OP.

Discussion comes with opposition. Agreeing with something is the least productive and most boring thing a person can do in a forum that, I hope, is based on discussion rather than circlejerking each other.

If it was just about agreeing and celebrating things we should just scrap the comment function and make everything a poll with only a "yes" option.

Why shouldn't you comment on improvements to a consoles sales? We discuss sales here, not only the #1 seller..

Because then every thread would have an OP and every single post after that would be "I agree" which would be boring.

You can have opposition and disagreements with positivity as well. If the others aren't positive but you are, then you're bound to get people that disagree with eachother.

Just look at people that are positive on Wii U sales. That always gives plenty of discussion.

Because human beings need comparison to live. Nothing is good or bad by itself it is always in comparison to something.

Maybe rare cases. But real discussion always starts with some idiot spouting fanboy nonsense. Only then will people be motivated enough to bring out real facts to counter the argument. That's where you get most information.

Imagine sales threads of people just gratulating whoever sold something. That thread would be pointless. No one would be motivated enough to provide further facts or put things into perspective if everyone would just agree and be nice about things.

I mean let's be honest. Compiling information and forming an argument is 99% of the time motivated by either attacking someone's ego or to boost your own(and in extension attack someone else's ego with that).

You can spout positive bullshit

I'm not disagreeing with you though. There's not much interesting with a forum where everyone agrees. It's like talking to a mirror.

This is also why I prefer threads with bad arguments before threads with good arguments
