I'd think a thread like this would already have been made, but I couldn't find it, so...

It's that time of the year again - to look back at the past 12 11 months and try to pick one outstanding game from the pack (which I think we can all agree wasn't brimming with quality in quantity this time). We've had a strong year for the Wii U and while there wasn't a lot to be excited about throughout 2014 when it came to other platforms, some late releases have managed to salvage what would have otherwise been a lackluster year. Of course, we all know 2015 will be a lot better, with Bloodborne, Zelda, Xenoblade, Halo, Uncharted, Batman and so much more (it's going to be so good isn't it?) but we're still not there yet. So, what is your Game of the Year for 2014?

Edit: I guess not counting indies in it is a little bit of a touchy subject, but I'm doing it. Remasters and DLCs are obviously out.

Transistor.

And you're going to lose that bet in your sig. lulz

For me, it will have to be Smash Bros for wiiU! The graphics look wonderful, the gameplay is fluid, the online is good, the music is epic (over 400 tracks) and it has endless replayability that me and my friends will continue to play for years!

Runner up: Artificial Academy 2

Nothing comes close to Dark Souls II for me.
I really expected much from Dragon Age, turned out to be "only" a good game with a lot of content.

The Last of Us Greatness Edition for Ps4

Dragon Age

Even then, It's not as good as it should be (IE they put too content in it).

If they cut about half of the mediocre content.

However, nothing this year really grabbed me except this. So at 30 hours into it. I can pretty safely say this is my pick.

Bayonetta 2.

Sublime combat, a wicked sense of humour, spectacular setpieces, and the single most awesome piece of fanservice I've ever seen in a game

(SPOILERS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHXxP3kHGlc )

There are few games I've played in my entire life that are as straight-up fun as Bayonetta 2, and fun is the reason I play video games.

South Park, decent rpg elements with a very funny story. Runner ups would be Wolfenstein and Far Cry 4. I havnt played every 2014 game I want to yet so it might change.

Forza Horizon 2 takes it for me (and with Dead Rising 3 & Killer Instinct releasing last year, FH2 won by quite a big margin too)

Three gaming companies i will respect forever............. SEGA, Capcom, Nintendo.

My gaming HERO= Yu Suzuki (The father of Shenmue, Virtua fighter, he's also an arcade/3D gaming PIONEER)

Proud member of the Sonic Support Squad. (not that he needs it anymore after Unleashed, Generations & All-Stars Racing)

Far Cry 4, definitely. Same as FC3 was a couple of years ago.

Close 2nd: South Park, hopefully they make another one...
