Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbone fails to outsell Ps4 despite biggest launch of year

I'd like to take a minute to talk about this. The Xbone failed to outsell the Ps4 this week (worldwide) despite it's biggest game (Halo) launching.

I'd be very worried if I were Microsoft right now. Think about it.

Look at all the issues the Ps4 and Sony are having right now: Driveclub (broken), LBP (bugs/bad reviews), firmware 2.0, no big AAA games. And then take a look at everything RIGHT that the Xbone and Microsoft are doing: Sunset Overdrive, Halo Collection, working firmware, very VERY VERY cheap prices everywhere with cuts.

And still, the Ps4 managed to outsell the Xbone this week.

I'd seriously be very worried if I were in the Xbox camp.

With Bloodborne around the corner looking to be promising (March) and the Order hopfully deliver on it's hype (Feb), plus Uncharted in the near future, AND Sony still has a price cut up it's sleeve????

Does not look good.

Meanwhile Nintendo continues to underdeliver on sales, getting destroyed by the other two consoles, yet just dropped two of the most critically acclaimed next gen games so far with Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros (probably my favorite series of ALL time).

Go figure. Thoughts?

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I don't think anyone expected it to outsell world wide.

I figured even the US was not likely. Idk anyone who thought it stood a chance world wide.

Not sure if serious.

I disagree with calling Halo MCC the biggest release of the year. The Last of Us: Remastered was clearly the biggest.

4 ≈ One

Where they are trying they won (US and UK), those are my thoughts on this matter.

Halo MCC still has a wonky online and LBP is getting good reviews? I don't know what you think "bad reviews" is, assume anything less than 8.

On the flip side, they just passed the Wii U in less than a year.

Microsoft is not going for worldwide, they only care for north America and UK to a lesser extent.
For all intents and purposes, they won what they set out to win. Maybe not the full month, but a week or two at the very least.

Not to mention I would expect a thread title like this if npd was published today showing ps4 as the victor for November, but that's not the case.

Sorry but this thread is a bit silly.

I dont think MS is worried about worldwide right now, they are worried about the first 13 places they released the console in (Tier-1 countries) especially US and UK. I believe they want to outsell PS4 in those markets because the media in those two countries have the loudest word of mouth and can pack a punch when making any announcements

As for nintendo, you should remember they have some sort of magical legs on holidays. It may not be much but im sure nintendo will have a good holiday just like PS4 and X1

It is so crazy how different the last 18 months have been when this is what its come to for MSFT in the US and UK

I don't think people understand how big of a deal the swing has been considering the fact the PS4 has yet to release any of its marquee franchises and MSFT has already released 2 forzas and a halo game.

The day sony releases a game that's as good as the LastofUs is the day ps4 has officially won the console war this gen. Could be the Order or Bloodbourne imo.
