Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why so stubborn? What's really wrong with digital media?

Even if you do happen to get banned, why not just make a back-up of everything?

This scenario is essentially pirating, as you no longer have the account which all of the game licenses are tied to.

Discs don't last forever? I still have PlayStation discs from 1995 that work great. Thais long enough. Meanwhile, I have software for my Xbox 360 and PSP that I'll never be able to download again if I delete them.

I have aTON of digital stuff, movies music and games, but it isn't perfect, yet.

Dragon Age Inquisition on PSN: 69.99€
Dragon Age Inquisition retail: 50.00€ (not even a joke)

And that's just an example among so many others.

I like to have a collection of games, to physically own them. So 20€ cheaper + a physical copy is pretty much the reason.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Honestly I think this whole anti digital media stuff is just a joke. And that the patform holders aren't really ready to go all in "fairly" thats why adoption is so far slower.

Trust me, the day a brand new game is released and cost $60 in stores and $40 online, you will see 9 outta every 10 people that speak against digital media hit that download button faster than you can read this post.

I'd be that one guy out of ten.  I went pretty much download only for the PSP a d it was awesome.  I have a ton of digital and physical games for all of the other consoles.  Some were because they were on sale.  I actually regret getting RE:R for half price on Wii U or even Titanfall for "free" on Xbox One.  Just a feeling.

I probably have well over 200 digital games on my 360 at this point.  Some were free from Games With Gold.  Some were HEAVILY discounted like Forza Horizon for $5.  Most people on this site probably have at least some experience with digital.  For whatever reason, unlike PC gamers, given a choice, we just prefer physical.  Digital games just dont feel like they're really mine.

Well, you could add an US-PSN-account to your PS4

Dragon Age Inquisition on PSN: $59.99 (€49, £39)

The girlfriend is there to play with, her clothes (dvd case) aren't.

I have gone full digital, more or less, and do not regret it. Especially living in a small one-room appartment, it's surprisingly hard to fit a big PC, a big TV with consoles and surround sound and hundreds of games in, any good way.

I wrote a post a while ago about my love for retail games but I'm unable to find it so I will make a significantly less artful attempt at explaining it here:

Physical games on my shelf serve a number of purposes. They call me back to games I haven't beaten and remind me of all the good times we have had together. I don't get the same joy out of digital games. When I beat a physical game, I get to go through the extremely rewarding process of moving my game from the "in progress" section of my shelf to the "completed" section. With a digital game, I just delete it from my hard drive.

Its more rewarding and it gives me more motivation to actually complete the game...
