Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does GTA 5's Sex With Prostitutes In First Person Promote Rape Culture? Does it go too far?

I imagine it does on the same level that shooting in FPS promotes actual shooting and killing of people. In other words; no, not even one bit, in my opinion.

Except you're not actually raping people in GTA.

Making it all the more unlikely. I know you don't rape people in GTA V. Strange that OP didn't focus on the violence in these games instead, or the reckless driving. I think you could buy prostitutes for the first time in Vice City as well, so this is hardly a new "issue".

Virtual Prostitues not the real thing. If grown men are getting off while playing GTA somethings really wrong.

if a man wants to masturbate while playing a video game it is his choice to do so

i will not judge him for that i'm quite sure that everyone in this thread has their own peculiar quirks

but regardless this has never been about sexual release it was about censorship occuring because women feel uncomfortable about something

We can talk subjective crap all day.

Censoring free speech is many orders of magnitude more destructive. It is indefensible.

As for the the topic:

Rape =/= Prostitution

GTA =/= Life

Claiming that the game promotes rape culture inadvertidly objectifies women, actual women, further ironically.

This is literally the exact same thing as the hot cofee mod in the past. Except this whole rape culture thing comes from part of the gaming media calling everyhting misogynist.

I don't know why this reply is for me, since I never actually made a claim about the game itself. I think it's tasteless and I never understood the appeal of GTA, but I don't want to censor anything. I DO think there is a place in the world for things like hentai and sexuality in video games.

You made the suggestion of censoring in the off chance of children playing a game not intended for them, I just wanted you to realize the full extent of a desire such as that.

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

If you think this is an issue just wait for games for VR. But no, It only promotes 'rape culture' for sick people and people who don't know whats right and wrong.

I wasn't talking about force in physical strength, but priving her of allowance or any other daily item isn't rape at most abuse or blackmailing.

TBH if you blackmailed someone into having sex with you i'd class that as Rape lol. But ofc it depends on what you're talking about.

I don't think saying to your wife, if you don't have sex with me I won't wash the dishes can be classified as rape.

You better teach that to feminazis who think not allowing woman to work and them dependent of you and insinuate that power over the money to convince a wife to have sex is basically rape.

soon enough anal sex will be considered home violence.

and if you like S&M better sign a contract with testimony in court so you don't get sued for rape, abuse and domestic violence.

A lot of people saying "rape culture" isn't real. It is real, but its not something that exists in any of those feminazis' countries. There are however a few remote places on this earth where more than 60% of men have raped, and a majority of those have raped several times. These men will never face any charges, nor will they be shunned for what they've done. They are living in a real rape culture.

There are real issues in our world. Marginalizing and ridiculing REAL issues, by calling everything rape, abuse and harassment, is disgusting! These people are pissing on those who are actually in need of help, and the only thing they're accomplishing is filling up their bank accounts. Yet these are the people who get to speak on television, these are the people who write the articles in our news papers... Go humanity!

Yep, I don't doubt someone would claim this ridiculous thing...

Rape was cultural several centuries ago... and as you said in some places it still is, and probably there isn't any law agaisnt it but let's cry for all useless things and lessen what is really happening.

No offence dude, but you seem pretty angry/frustrated towards women, lol.
