Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does GTA 5's Sex With Prostitutes In First Person Promote Rape Culture? Does it go too far?

well yes because we are rapidly approaching a situation where any instance of sex between man and woman is going to be considered rape by the man on the woman

Prostitute > rape.

Implying they didn't knew what they signed up for.

WTF is wrong with some peole? You don't become a rapist from a video game. You need that special "fucked up in the head" as well...

Do you believe that the millions of boys aged 13-17 who will most definitely find themselves either watching these YouTube videos, or playing the game themselves, are being taught that using woman as physical objects is part of being a man,

I don't understand. Aren't women physical objects? Just like a baby, or a horse, or a car, or a video game console, or a man for that matter. Using women as mental objects is called masturbation.

a) Prostitution isn't rape
b) Portraying an act is not the same as promoting it
c) If we haven't been able to prove the effect of video game violence, how is this in any way a reputable claim?
d) How would this have any greater effect than pornography?
e) We have the ESRB to prevent younger teens from playing games like this...let parents do the parenting

So you are saying that Rapist are just people who are messed up in the head? Our culture plays no part?

Yes. A normal person doesnt go around raping or killing people because they saw it in a video game or movie.

The day you were born a man you been branded a rapist and pedophile so society already promotes it.

Can't piss of a girl cause she will claim rape.

Can't play with kids or have a camera on the beach cause you will be a pedo.

It promotes it as much as it did when it was 3rd person. Difference is you can see it up close now which makes it more of a "threat". I dont play GTA and if it is just prostitutes and not actual rape -then it doesnt promote rape. Prostitutes maybe. But thats a whole other topic XD

Ugh... another day another stupid piece of opinion about videogames, i'm not going to discuss how stupid is to keep stating ''the media'' and ''the world'' and ''the culture'' like Ryan says are responsible for sex crimes, in this case against women, as it would be wasting my time - So i will say, aren't there more important things to worry about? isn't 1minutegaming.com a gaming site? why do we keep trying to make this into the cause of ''the problem''? why do we have to deal with the biased, stupid, victimist, aggresive oppinion of people who obviously don't live in the real world but in the one that exists inside their own minds? just... stop

There is some grain of truth in what you said. But society also promotes the notion 'well she deserved it' and invalidating her claims. Shouldn't have be wearing that. Shouldn't have gotten drunk. Shouldn't have lead him on. Shouldn't have been alone. Should have reported it sooner.

Neither gender should have to put up with the bullshit they do, but everyone's too busy exclaiming how THEY have it so much worse than the other side they nothing gets resolved through all the whining and accusations, which only serves to create an even bigger divide and more resentment.
