Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One Has Made The Most Remarkable Comeback In Video Game Industry History, Better Option Than PS4 In Holiday 2014

Microsoft deserved every single bit of hate that they got. That was pretty anti-consumer. Fans and media alike reacted to Microsofts actions .

That's probably the only time this Gen gamers are going to actually do something united, and even then their were opposers but that can't be helped and it was the minority.

Even ACU wasn't enough for actual action to take place. Hell we didn't even get a shitty petition.

So having a 24% marketshare=come back? Man, we're setting the bar pretty damn low these days.

You quoted the entire op to say two sentences?

il still lost last week ww,even with a huge discount and the ps4 doing next to nothing... the usa gap is gonna get bigger over the course of the next year

In the wake of grass gate I'm going to go out on a limb and say xbone settles back into third place next year.

Exactly. When Sony's E3 showing Microsoft how to treat the consumer in under a minute was called "Sony drops the mic". Anyone can look this up. Sony literally showed Microsoft how to win the trust of the fans back. Something as little as that type of respect won them a standing ovation even though they aren't perfect themselves.

Microsofts party clause is also one of the most disgusting and unfair practices in the history of gaming as well.

Yeah even with all the issues, as you say with the PS3 it was increasing sales year on year over the 360's previous year it was constantly chipping away at the 360's lead, it was slow but inevitable I guess. Will be interesting to see where this gen ends up regarding sales.

As for kinect, amazing to think Sony could have taken it up, their loss was MS's gain for while, I think it helped re image the 360 in a way at the time, now kinect has had an adverse effect for MS. Thinking that maybe in hindsight it was fortunate that Sony didn't take it up?

Well the Kinect issue was because Sony was self sufficient and the guys at Project Natal weren't showing them anything they weren't already capable of doing themselves. The Eyetoy had already been doing what the Kinect had been doing years earlier, so Sony turned it down. They knew they had to create an add-on for the Kinect to help control the 3D environment while traversing through it without being on rails. Sony considered their first Eyetoy to be a glorified mini-game camera, which is essentially how they percieved the Kinect desipite its success.

Interesting the route each has taken, kinect had better tech was a success and I think pulled it off as appearing as something new, I have watched the PS2 eye toy clips on you tube, I never owned one, but it's amazing to watch that Sony had basically already being doing it!

Yep. As I always said, Microsoft is better at dealing with consumer perception than Sony. Sony also never saw fit to force bundle any peripherals even if it came at a loss. As Jack Tretton said when people asked why Sony didn't follow MS with force bundling the Eyetoy. Its a stupid question to ask them to begin with. They started to major Camera gaming trend and MS just popularized it. Sony never...ever saw fit to force the consumer into anything they didn't want. As you can see Sony has always profited off of the Eyetoy hence the newer iterations.

Remarkable comeback! Seriously, if the contest between the PS4 and the X1 was a heavy weight boxing match we are just half way though round 2, enough time has not passed for a comeback because no one has gone anywhere it has only just begun, both fighters are looking good, strategies may have already changed but a KO has not been delivered, the PS4 is ahead on points at this stage but there is still a long way to go before the end and both are showing that they are up for a long, intense and interesting fight.

Its more like X1 finally put its hands up to block, and possibly got a counter or two off.

Yeah, if it was a boxing match I think the X1 worked out it had to do something different, right now I think they are circling and sizing each other up, each primed to launch their holiday season onslaught! It's going to be fun :)

Have to agree that MS market their products well, although I think Sony have improved a lot this gen. To force the consumer has definitely backfired, have read that the PS4 camera is selling well, just wonder if it will it ever get utilized fully and become a must have peripheral, I use mine for voice commands atm more for fun than anything, still I think it was worth it. :)
