Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One Has Made The Most Remarkable Comeback In Video Game Industry History, Better Option Than PS4 In Holiday 2014

Just have to agree with some people here. PS3 had the best comeback. Many people thought it was going to be stuck way back in 3rd place, and it didn't.

You missed the predictions; 5 million lifetime was going around here back then.

I don't want to hurts the feeling of an Xbox One fans. But the truth is that even in the US with the price cut PS4 is still selling like crazy.

Xbox one is definitely a good console for Xbox fans but not for gamers as general, from the first they revealed to public, general consumer doesn't accepted. Even after one year, it still the same Xbox One with the same company with minor change on with no DRM no Kinnect, and honestly i prefer they stay with their focus on what they did first.

The focus even started to creep back to video games and video content was set at the back burner. Now that a year has passed and we’re moving into the latest holiday season, we think the Xbox One could give PlayStation 4 a run for its money. Microsoft are offering a nice array of exclusive video games (Sunset Overdrive, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo 5: Guardians beta), no more strict DRM and even better, Xbox One is available for $50 less throughout this Holiday Season, and this is not all, this price cut applies to special Xbox One bundles. At the time of Xbox One $50 price cut announcement, Xbox Division Boss, Phil Spencer stated: "Want This To Be An Unforgettable Holiday Season" for Xbox community, and in my opinion, Spencer fulfilled his promise (the outcome of this has started to show up: Xbox One outsold PS4 in United States two weeks in a row since the announcement of Price Cut).

A beta is a game now? Sheesh, scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit to call access to a beta a holiday selling point.

When it comes down to it it's only price and a what looks like will end up being a relatively niche exclusive game (Sunset Overdrive).

MCC will do it's thing, but it is what it is and what it isn;t is an actual new Halo game, which is what would really excite the gaming world, or at least the Halo fanbase.

Game-wise PS4 has an unfortunately less well received than hoped for sequel to a pretty successful franchise as a counter offer to Sunset Overdrive, i.e. LBP3, which will appeal to a different audience for the most part. But it is being bundled. And while it's been out for a while TLOUR is a not bad counter to Halo MCC in terms of re-cycling of exclusive content. Halo MCC is the more popular of the two historically. But the advantage of TLOUR is that far fewer people who might be interested in the game have actually played it.

So there's really just price. Which is not a minor thing but is also not especially huge either; being only a $50 difference.

Still I expect the aggregate of these factors to advantage Xb one in the USA for the holidays. But perhaps not by as much as MS was hoping. Then again perhaps MS was just hoping that all these moves would edge Xb one past PS4 for a few months int he USA after having been behind quite some distance all year.

Amazing though how 2 weeks of higher sales, so far, in a single market is such a huge deal.

I wouldn't call it a remarkable comeback at least until  it has had a longer term effect than just this holidays. Remember PS3's comeback (globally) was merely being a price match with 360, not actually being cheaper. If PS4 officially price matches with Xb one the comeback is likely to be substantially negated. Which means it's not really a comeback.

Keep the exclusives coming, and they will come.

Can't decide if this is satire or not. If not, then it's funny as hell.

A feel good story pandering to its fanbase i guess, but "Most Remarkable Comeback In Video Game Industry" is the biggest joke I have read in a while. A comeback implies victory, that they are not doing.
