A couple of folks over at Sony shared some not-so-nice comments pertaining to Nintendo in recent interviews.

First, while speaking with Red Bull, Sony’s Fergal Gara said that the Wii “is a shadow of its former self.” Gara was reflecting on the future of the PlayStation 4 and appealing to a mass market.

Elsewhere in an interview with IGN, Sony Computer Entertainment America president/CEO Shawn Layden stated that he believes the PlayStation Vita offers the best portable gaming experience – even more so than what Nintendo is doing with 3DS.

“I believe that Vita is the best handheld gaming experience, full stop, period. Nothing comes close to that. You can talk about your mobile, you can talk about your tablet, you can talk about, you know, Nintendo platforms or what have you in the handheld space. I think, pound-for-pound, buck-for-buck, Vita is the best gaming experience you can have.”

if it offers a better experience why arent you release any games on the poor thing sony?

The problem is, both Nintendo and Sony have their faults in beliefs. Yes, Wii U isn't doing that well and PS4 is appealing to the mass market. However, the PS Vita is selling like corn nuts while the 3DS is simply killing the competition. It doesn't matter what either thinks, it comes down to numbers. PS4 is killing Wii U and 3DS is killing Vita. Simple as that.

is this misleading articles or thread day or something? This is the 4th thread I have seen so far where what someone is saying is either taken outta context or new meaning is just tacked onto it.

Well obviously Sony is going to say they're better than the competition.

So, Reggie says Wii U is better value for money and that the competition is boring and that's just PR-talk and okay but SCEA head says that he thinks the Vita is the superior handheld experience is... different how now?

As for the Wii; it really is a shadow of its former self, it sold less than 1/4 of the 360 and PS3 last week so I don't see how this is a wicked statement either, there really is no two ways about it.

These are spokesmen bragging about their products and as for the "jab" at the Wii; I think Reggie's "the competition is boring" is in more poor taste and a lot more silly given the circumstances the market is in right now, not to mention the fact that his statement was purely subjective whereas it cannot be denied that the Wii has seen a severe decline and has nearly disappeared entirely from the market.
