Going through a break up was very hard for me... so I decide to do something harder.... SIGN UP for the FUCKING LA MARATHON!

that is approximately 26.2 miles or 42.2 km

I have 5 months to train... ive been running casually and used to run 7 miles in one hour, but i am far from what i need to be to run the marathon.

Any tips to anyone who did marathon before?

Anyone in LA (Pasadena area) willing to put down their controller to train for marathon?

Play a lot of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and buy a truck load of mountain dew.

If that doesn't work then just learn to believe in yourself, anything is possible!

Very smart way to channel a break up. I've used that energy to work out and it was great. I love to run, but no marathons or distance running. I'm a sprinter... if you can pull off a marathon, you certainly have my respect.

Dang, that is going to be intense.

Carb it up, listen to your body, follow training guides online, and don't give up are thr only advice I can give. Ran XC in high school but never ran more than 15 miles in 1 sitting.

Start at a good pace and try to maintain. the problem with a lot of runners is they will try to stay near the front and tire themselves out by expending to much energy at the start of the run. Also, keep your head up, or even tilted a little higher than normal to open the pathway for air (just a little though, don't run looking at the sky or nothing, it's obviously going to make it harder to run). Don't overdress, after a mile or two you are going to be sweating, that's not to say don't wear a jacket or even a light coat if it is cold outside, but try to dress in light garments, don't wear a huge puffy winter jacket with huge gloves, being a little cold when starting will even out to being a little too hot when you finish and all those clothes is just going to get in the way. HYDRATE, and i mean like a week before really start drinking a lot of water so you're body will retain it. Also eat salty foods (don't go crazy) to help retain water. Last, stretch. A lot the day before and also before you start running.

I was in the Army, so trust me I know all about running.

Don't run with the girls. They have a slower pace for you until a cop starts chasing you.
