"German website Nintendo-Online published a new article today with speculation about a potential third team over at Nintendo EAD Tokyo. Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D Land Koichi Hayashida director is said to be leading the new division. Assuming a third team exists, Nintendo-Online believes that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was the first project.

The speculation stems from Captain Toad’s credits. EAD Tokyo 2 producer Yoshiaki Koizumi is not mentioned, pointing towards a new group. This is further supported by a Japanese interview with Hayashida earlier this year in which he implied that he had received a promotion to producer."

So, if this newer team made Captain Toad, what has the other team been working on this whole time that we have been unaware of?

Yes but mine is specifically talking about what the OTHER EAD team has been up to. I don't care about the Toad Tracker game or the team that worked on it.

A new amazing Paper Mario game plox!

From what I can tell, Group 1 of EAD Tokyo haven't made a major game since the first Galaxy, and seem to be working more of an app/support role now. I'd guess co-development on Majora's Mask 3D, or at least some kind of supervisory role.

EAD Tokyo Group 2 have been quite busy since Galaxy 2, working on a number of digital titles (including co-developing the NES Remix games) and obviously most recently developed Super Mario 3D World. This group was confirmed to have started work on an entirely new 3D Mario game earlier this year, though they hadn't decided if it was Wii U or 3DS bound at that point.

If this speculation is true, then we now have group 3 developing Captain Toad. It looks like Group 2 are the 'main' group in Tokyo. I can't imagine Captain Toad requiring a huge amount of manpower. Given Nintendo's flexible approach to their development teams, I'd imagine groups 1 and 3 will help out 2 with a new 3D Mario once their current projects are on the market.

EAD Kyoto Group 3 will be developing that.

They are making a new E.T. game. HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would suppose they are either working on a new IP or Super Mario Universe(Galaxy 3), because the Team 1 only working as a support team, since Super Mario Galaxy, is kinda weird, they must have a big project on their hands, there talent cannot simply be being wasted on a mere support role.
