Forums - Gaming Discussion - I think Angry Joe has to stop reviewing multiplayer console shooters.

Why are you playing COD on PC? This is also the reason he had such a bad view of Titanfall. As much as I love his reviews he needs to review multiplayer games tailor made for PC or just stick to single player games on consoles. Outside of that hes an amazing reviewer, but I think we've finally found the chink in Angry Joe's reviewing armor and Its console multiplayer shooters. I started noticing once I saw his Titanfall review.

Actually, Joe liked Titanfall. He had the same criticism a lot of people had, not a lot of content.

I don't disagree with his points about CoD:AW. The linearity of levels is a waste of new abilities. Several of the levels feel like a standard CoD game. There are fun moments but the campaign as a whole wasn't great.

He also admits he enjoyed CoD for the campaigns and that's what he mostly focused on. His opinions on the multiplayer are negligible, he doesn't enjoy the style of that game. He's actually describing what makes Halo 4 multiplayer superior.

I see no problem with him.
He reviews and says what he thinks just like any reviewer...

He should call it a review in progress. He even admitted he barely played the multiplayer because he didn't like it (not to mention he hasn't played a COD since MW2). I didn't expect high scores, but I think he only did this for ratings. I gave a link to Robin Gaming, because he actually gave an in depth review of COD. The only part of the review that Angry Joe did that was proper for the multiplayer was talking about the pick 13 system. He then complained that the game focused on jumping around with the jet packs when thats essentially what you're supposed to do in a game such as this....adapt. Robingaming gives a proper breakdown on the ways you can play. All Joe did was complain that people were playing deathmatch and not capture the flag on the PC version of the game.

The game is released on PC so what's wrong with reviewing the PC version, if you are going to buy the console version go somewhere else for your review. The idea that a game shouldn't be reviewed on a certain platform because it's better on another platform is ludicrous.

He admitted that he doesn't do console multiplayer so he played PC. He also scored Titanfall lower partially because of EA's Origin. He also isnt a fan of twitch shooters which are pretty big on consoles. Also watch the review, you'll see what I mean. In general he's not the best authority on FPS on any platform unless it is single player. Watch the review to see what I am talking about first though.

You realize that those are totally viable reasons to lower a games score right? Origin is a pain in the ass, as is Uplay and others like them. I generally prefer PC shooters over consoles shooters because a mouse and keyboard tend to be a better control solution for them, at least in my opinion.

Just because you disagree with his view on a game or genre doesn't mean he should stop doing reviews of them. It's actually quite funny you think that.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

As long as he specifies that its only the PC version (like he did with COD) that he's judging then fine. Its not about disagreeing either, its the same reason I was frustrated with Ryan McCaffrey from IGN reviewing Alien: Isolation. He bitched and moaned about the whole game during the review. Its obvious that the game wasn't for him. Thats why he got bashed by readers. It was hard for him to stick to the review for the sake of other readers. This is why I say, he should review games that are more within our realm of understanding. My only gripe with Joe is him focusing on the all of the details when dealing with multiplayer shooters.

As I said, check out Robin Gaming's review to see what I mean opposed to Angry Joe.

No, he needs to stop reviewing games that no one cares about. Its not just that but his channel has dropped in quality a lot. He barely does reviews and all he ever talks about is "training" for his "angry army". Since when do you need to train for a fucking online game?

I agree with this.

While I like Angry Joe when he was doing reviews, I like him less now because honestly, he's a really crappy gamer.  This is a guy who's been playing games as long as I have, but not only that, he makes a living off of his reviews, his angry army fanclub with a monthly subscription, and streaming games.  You'd assume being a real gamer, putting that much time and dedication into them he'd be good, but what he releases on his streams, I'd be embarassed to upload that on my channel.  I'm sure you've seen a lot of Youtube channels where the players are just crap, Angry Joe has the same skillset as those imo.

Angry Joe.  Cool guy, shitty gamer.  Now that he's doing less reviews and the reviews he does do are getting worse and worse, I'm starting to lose interest in him.

I agree with him on the campaign as well, but my gripe is him complaining. His opinion on the multiplayer is negligible as well, I agree. In this review I saw saw a flaw him that I usually don't see and that is that hes just bad at twitch shooters so he plays for a little and then walks on. As I said before, he's good at single player shooters so I look forward to Far Cry. COD needs more time spent talking on multiplayer and thats why I recommended Robin Gaming.

I was watching his methology while playing COD in his video recordings and it was just terrible. He follows lead runners instead of getting to know the map, he barely jumps properly (obviously from lack of using the multiplayer) as well. He was killed more than he even killed (and I don't even remember seeing him even getting a kill in the multiplayer portion of the review). Robin Gaming shows  off his methodology and talks about how the game has actually opened up tactics for various methodologies even though it hasn't been a leap for COD. Robin actually explained why in this COD its harder to get to know the maps and his extensive knowledge of COD opposed to Joes lack there of and how he hasn't played a COD since MW2. Hes a single player FPS gamer, that much is clear at this point.

The notion of "AngryJoe" being the only one to realize 7.5 isnt average isnt entirely true though.

RobinGaming for instance, finds the game to be great.

Angryjoe finds it to be slightly above average.

The scores for both reflect properly.

Opinions, how do they work?

He clearly also states his preference about multiplayer and shooters, going as far as to even mentioning that he's not a fan of "twitch shooters". I completely get what he's saying and I share that opinion. That's the reason most shooters nowadays completely turn me off and why I wish games like Killzone: Shadow Fall was more like what Killzone 2 was. But no it went more to the twitch shooter route and ended up "similar to CoD" (in that regard).

Not sure what's up with Halo 5 but GAF threads have some people panicking due to similar shit, so..

I have seen both. I find both to be viable. Both back up their statements justly. I tend to side with Joe more on this though. I'm bored of most fps games. They all blend together. I'm always amazed at how much COD sells consoles. I enjoyed WAW, BO1 and BO2 was okay. The rest I could have done without. I find the multiplayer for the most part to be the same on all the COD games so for me the differentiating factors are the single player campaigns which many don't even play anymore. I heard a lot of good stuff about AW, but after looking into it closer, I'm just going to save my money and put it towards something I'll get more enjoyment out of.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
