You are the one saying it... Again, visuals is more than just tech or art style, it's a whole made of color palette, animation, framerate, level design, detail, camera angle, lighting... but mostly talent!

As for the game you quote, nowadays every decent company can mimmic reality & make great realistic visuals... doesn't mean I don't like realistic game, I enjoy quite a few of them, car sims, FPS & others, but I'm not narrow & enjoy as well if not more the likes of Mariokart, Journey, Rayman Legends!!!

You don't eat your favourite dish everyday @ lunch & supper, variety is good for your belly & your soul!

im pretty sure dont starve mimmicks reality. sure. 

as far as art style goes, go compare MK8's art style to how to train your dragon, brave, or kung fu panda, and you will realize just how much of a massive difference in quality there is, even though all go for the "cartoony" look. 

also frame rate isnt about visuals, its about performance. level design is about gameplay.

The game looks good for a WiiU game no doubt, but not even close to being the best lookign game of the year.

They all look far better than MK8.  Each XBO game has 2x AA by default, I am sure the PS4 does as well.

I don't compare Watch_Dogs to your average hacker because your average hacker can do much worse. 

Mario Kart is significantly better looking than those games in esthetics, just because it doesn't agree with your ideal art style doesn't make it that authors or that persons opinion wrong like you are trying to prove by posting these photos. Graphics aren't all about what is super realistic.

He's saying these people are wrong, I'm implying he's wrong for trying to say they are wrong. Graphics are a subjective debate because not eveyone can agree on this. While he believes those "realistic" graphics are better looking than Mario Kart 8's graphics. The person whom he was replying to said the opposite. 

You took my entire statement out of context because you think I said "your opinion is wrong". Opinions can't be wrong, or right... well they can always be right but they are never wrong. Unless there is some factual and scientific evidence to prove that Mario Kart 8 isn't the best looking game then it's a completely pointless argument to compare Mario Kart 8 to Driveclub or Forza. This thread started with opinions, and it will end with opinions, that's a fact. :) 

Both our opinions are right, and both are wrong, But it's poor taste to compare "real" to "fantasy". :P

The Mute City Stage when you play it is mind blowing. So much detail and a big draw distance and stuff moving in the background.

It isn't about how the game feels, its about graphics and in the racing game genre itself both FH2 on XB1 and Driveclub look much better than MK8 in terms of graphics.

I haven't even mentioned the games from other genres which look better. Even on Wii U, Bayonetta 2 and SSB (from what I've seen online) look better.

bayonetta 2 looks like my balls.  that doesn't stop me from loving it or it being my current goty but it looks horrible much of the time.
