Forums - Gaming Discussion - This Generation is Pretty Great for All of Us So Far!

I fail to see what is so great in this gen (since nintendo isn't mentioned on OP... like always). The things that you listed are positive only for Sony and Microsoft not us. Sales and profits don't add anything to me

We, as gamers, should be very proud of ourselves. No, we shouldn't

We put an end to a lot of bullshit that went on last generation! No, we don't

When you consider that in the life span of a console, 6 years you have to pay more 150$ to play online... 400$ + 150$ = 550$ almost the price of the premium PS3 on release & that is the bottom line.

You get access to over 100 XBO- or PS4-games in that time frame. Many of them smaller games, but the bigger titles are only a matter of time.

How many games were included in the $500-investment for a PS3?

Hurray for games that I don't want!!! The games I want, I buy them on launch not 1 year later, I don't play what I'm fed, I play what I want!!!

Reminds me of that Seinfeld bit on how the pharmaceutical industry sees its "customers"/patients!

I'm interested in games for the Xbox One, Ps4 and WiiU; so I definitively agree about being a pretty good generation.

I actually agree its an overall more solid start then we've seen in the past, but its far less exciting and inventive :(

I guess those are all valid points, but many games this generation haven't been THAT impressive.. :/

Like hell it is!

The people who are agreeing with this have LOST THEIR MOTHERF***KING MINDS!!

In terms of next gen games NONE of the 3 are doing even CLOSE to great.

All of the big 3 are lagging behind their predecessors when you compare the 1st full years(including the holidays)

When you look at Xbox One and PS4, damn near all of thw games on it are just PS3/360 games. What are the TRUE NEXT GEN games on PS4 and Xbox One right now besides the exclusives? Right now I can only think of Ryse and Dead Rising.

2..

..

2!!!

From the top of my head, PS4 has Knack, KZ Shadowfall, Infamous Second Son and Driveclub as TRUE NEXT GEN exclusives in total. Ryse and Dead Rising are multiplat Next gen games but they aren't on ps4.. right now?

Xbox One has Forza 5, Fighter Within(Kinect game), Kinect Sports Rivals(Kinect game obviously), and Sunset Overdrive as TRUE NEXT GEN exclusives. Ryse and Dead Rising are Next gen multiplat games on Xbox One also.

That's like 4 a piece within the 1st year without including the 2 multiplat games.

Both ps3 and 360 had more next gen games during their 1st years.

I made a thread about this that was directed at Sony(since they are my favorite company of the 3).

I can't remember what the Wii U had in its 1st year.. I believe it was New Super Mario Bros, Zombie U, Wario Ware and Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Wii Party U, Super Mario 3D World and a couple other games so.. I guess.. whether you like it or not Wii U is doing the best IN A WAY at this point. They just dont have the support of the 3rd party devs. Either way, the 3rd party haven't really released shit for next gen. They're all still making PS3 and 360 games and just simply putting them on PS4 and Xbox One.

If you're an individual that bought a next gen system to play next gen games them I'm pretty sure you haven't been playing much.

I guess the downloadable games can help a bit?

We had the 1st Gears Of War and the 1st Uncharted in the ps3 and 360's 1st respective years.

The next gen consoles themselves aren't bad but we're just not seeing many next gen games on these consoles right now.

But whatever..

To me the enjoyment of videogames has been somewhat stiffled by the new bussiness practices that has come in the last 5 years. Im fine with prices increasing on games even though for some reason only europe is affected, but with the advent of f2p games a title that would normally be sold as a 60 dollar title is now basically a pay to win game. That would be fine and all if the stuff requiring pay actually equated 60 dollars but in most games we are dealing with several hundreds. maybe even up to 1000. Not only that but it lacks singleplay components.

What is even worse is when you do pay for a retail release and they put those same microtransactions in. Combine that with overpriced dlc and you can end up spending 100 dollars more for 20 of the original content.

Theb there is DRM attempts by microsoft, preorder being showed down your throat, graphical lies by ubisoft, unplayable games on day 1 due to bugs and online payment required for online play on consoles. It all just adds up to things not being nearly as fun anylonger. If it werent for naughty dog i would propably have stayed on pc only for the majority of this generation

Ehhh, while this generation definitely has it's pros, it will forever be remembered as the gen of overhyped games that turned out to be garbage

For me im quite over this gen already.... I can't play new games i buy without downloading a few gigs of data, which means that if I buy a game im usually not able to play them until the next day. Not to mention that there is so much bullshit being thrown at us by publishers these days.

It still doesn't feel like the new gen has properly started yet - it just feels like the 7th gen still
