Forums - Gaming Discussion - This Generation is Pretty Great for All of Us So Far!

Despite the vocal minority that want to critisize, this generation is off to a great start!

-No console has mass hardware problems like 7th generation

-All consoles are reasonably priced

-Huge franchises on Xbox One and PS4 from the start (took a few years for Assassins Creed, Call of Duty etc to become popular on 7th gen)

-Xbox One is outselling Xbox 360

-PS4 outselling PS3

-We have China in the game now

-Games with Gold and PS+ are giving us free games

-Reviewers are putting game companies in their place

-Indies are better this generation (and getting better)

We, as gamers, should be very proud of ourselves. We put an end to a lot of bullshit that went on last generation! Sure there are server problems here and there but these companies are getting bashed enough by the public so that will never happen again!

But, but, but 1080p

I've played a lot less and have been a lot less impressed with what everyone has been coming out with, so definitely not better for me as a gamer.

I guess I'm that "vocal minority." :(

Lets be honest here. Games have never been worse. Everything is watered down mass market paint by numbers corporate bullshit. Well, until bloodborne comes out that is.

Can't belive that i'm agreeing with Toastboy! But yes this is a great generation, just ignore the fps/pixel/pc master race whiners and you can start enjoying the plethora of games releasing.

And while many games do seem to be broken out of the gate, Unity is working perfectly fine for me!

Maybe a few more new IPs to come into the mix and a bit more 1080p... But this generation has started quite brightly

It's more a smooth transition from the previous gem rather than the boom and bust of the last gen. We probably got a more noticeable gap last time, but it caused so many issues I'd take this more steady transition

You're a glass half full kind of guy! I like it. The gen wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, initially but now I'm having a blast. Things are only gonna get better.

Meh. All those points are great and all but at the end of the day it's still about the games themselves which are still quite unimpressive if you ask me. Sure we've seen some mild improvements in graphics here and there but is that all there's going to be? There's just nothing new and exciting. Where is the imagination? Not to mention the direction a lot of companies are taking and the trend of bringing broken games like nobody cares.

I'm indifferent to this Gen so far. I guess I could fit in this 'vocal minority'.

Totally agree.

-Playstatation is back atop the industry with a massive lead, that continues to grow.

-Playstation Now is setting up a future were games old and new can be played in an instance on multiple devices.

-Share Play finally allows us to play games with friends without the need of two copies, and allows friends to enjoy experiences never possible before.

-Remote Play finally achieves the goal of Sony's portable gaming units by bringing the full PlayStation 4 experience, and games to Xperia phones as they were ment to be played.

-Xbox one has forced Sony to actually follow through on their all in one device under one Sony. A promise they have touted since the days of the PS2.

-Xbox One has brought the Snap feature, which should be standard on all console from here on.

-Xbox gamers are happy with their console of choice, and continue to support the industry.

-Nintendo is back on the ropes were they belong, and it looks like they have finally been forced to deliver the games we have waited for since N64.

All in all, I think fans of all console makers should be quite pleased with this generation so far. Even better look at next year. That will be the single best year in gaming history to this point. The games and services coming from the console makers make all three consoles highly desirable no matter where you stand as a gamer.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
