Looking at this weeks chartz, they ain't have to drop their price.

I think this is a fatal mistake for the PS4, the X1 price cut especially during holidays can make it sell 1 million more, basically closing the gap in the US.

PS4 will sell way over 1 million this holidays... way way way over that... in US alone.

I doubt PS4 will sell more than 1 million this holidays, honestly.

PS4 already sold more than 1 million in September and October. And those two months are peanuts compared to how much consoles sell during the holiday season. You really need to make more realistic predictions because the one above isn't cutting it.

I don't know...

They sold more in September and October... already have a 300k+ lead in sales... so something right they did.

Nobody knows how November and December sales will be... if they win again the your thread will be pointless.

They already got damn near doubled up in the US all by it's self and It took a strong boost in the EU to bearly eek out a win worldwide, so I already feel the question is relevent.

Hardly outselling the competition overall means nothing as the only thing that matters now is keeping their hold on the US. And as someone else said in this thread, the nearly double in sales matter because most people won't buy both systems. Only hardcores do that, and their other console might be the Wii U rather than a PS4 seeing as the Bone and 4 are so similar.

I disagree I think it is indeed far too early to tell. I mean your first sentence can also be spun to say even with a stong boost in the US the XB1 still couldn't manage to outsell the PS4. See that can be twisted both ways IMO. Anyway.....MS basically just started their holiday sale early. So I personally felt that the XB1 would do AMAZING in the US with this deal. I am more interested in the numbers for the following 2-4 weeks to get a better idea of how the sales will pan out. Will the boost be sustained will they double the PS4 in the US again? Will the PS4 numbers decrease due to this deal my MS? Is the price going to be permanent?

Also the bolded statement makes no sense. So outselling the competition WW does not matter? The only thing that matters is holding on to the US? Really? Why is that? For Sony the most important thing is PROFIT. If they continously outsell the competition ALL year WW and only get beaten(MAYBE) two months out of the year ONLY in the US but still otusell it WW then why worry? I mean Sony will also get a very nice holiday boost and there will be some nice holiday deals s well. So there is no need for them to panic to what is seemingly a desperation move by MS. That's called smart business not being cocky. Anyway I am glad to see the healthy sales of the XB1 and am looking to some AMAZING numbers for the reaminder of the year for both the PS4 and the XB1!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

I only say that because the PS3 lost the US by a mile but still won the worldwide race and it still hurt the platform overall.

Seeing as they already have the EU and Japan won, the US is a key battle ground region and I hope they don't screw this up because of arrogance or they think that people are buying because of brand again. That's what screwed up last gen on Playstation.

Yeah, it's a big difference.

You only need 400 bucks with taxes to get yourself a Xbone with two games included while you need 440 to get just a PS4 (assuming a max 10% sales tax, but at that price it's only a few bucks less anyway). If anyone thinks that someone who just wants an next gen system is going to pass that up because they want a PS4, they have another thing coming.

Another thing to consider is parents. What system do you think they're going to bring home; the glossy one for 440 bucks after taxes or the one that cost about $385 after taxes and comes with 2 games? That's even tempting to me and I've never owned a Microsoft console nor did I have plans to.

In other words, I don't see those sales slipping anytime soon, and Sony's counter bundle needs to be in stores NOW, not one week from now on Black Friday. I just have a feeling their going to get crushed.

On a side note, I'm sure Microsoft's board isn't too happy with it, but one thing I will say is this is a huge win for consumers or anyone that's in the market for a nextgen console.
