Forums - Sony Discussion - Did Sony get too cocky not matching the Xbone's price drop this holiday season?

Nearly everyone I know is getting Xbones now because of the recent price cuts and the Ass Creed Unity bundle has been on top of the PS4 on Amazon for about 2 weeks now.

Is it possible that the PS4 raging success caused them to have a bit of PS3 syndrome where they thought people would pay more just because it has the better specs and the Sony logo on it?

I feel like they're in danger of letting MS back in the console war if this price drop is left unanswered and I'm not sure the GTAV bundle will make up for it.

Sony is still doing well in N. America and dominating in Europe. If I were Sony I wouldn't be worried.

Nop, they planned everything well without losing too much money, they made ready all their bundles for the last weeks of november, the biggest of the month ( BF week and week before christmas month ), with these 2 big weeks in their pocket, they can easily win this month.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

They are doing the right thing. They will making much more money than MS will be from Xbox during the holidays, and profit is more important than marketshare.

No. It actually looks brilliant now that they chose not to match. A feather in their cap for another day.

Not really... If for most of the year, the ps4 dominates and for two months they lose in only one territory (while still dominating WW mind you), then a price cut isn't required imo. Why? Cause they are still winning by quite amount and making a nice profit vs if they made a price cut, they would make less profit or break even which again, is not necessary if they are winning!

Remember, Guaranteed profit > Potential Profit

”The environment where PlayStation wins is best for this industry” (Jack Tretton, 2009)

No. This is temporary. All consoles see boosts when prices drop. The fact is though, if it's not the "it" console of the generation, it will fall back quickly a month or two later. The PS4 is well ahead and that isn't going to change because of a small bump for a month or two.

did you see the weekly sales?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Looking at this weeks chartz, they ain't have to drop their price.

Thanks jlmurph!
