Forums - Gaming Discussion - Are you a sheep (mindless buyer)?

Do you buy shit products from lazy devs?

Yes, in droves, I'm a mindless sheep 31 20.39%

Every time a game like Parity or BF4 or even DC or Halo:MCC comes out with a shitload of glitches we promisse to boycott it and never again buy from that developer, yet we go there and buy the shitgame FW and preorder the sequel but keep complaining about how shit and greed the dev is.

Do you keep far from shit products or you are a sheep buying in droves?

Ps: this looks like politics, we protest like lions and vote like asses.

Sometimes I buy shit products (cause of zomfg deals or some happen to be anime games) but most of the time I boycott them

"We promisse to boycott it and never again buy from that developer"? Maybe that's your case. Not mine.

I still purchase Capcom games because I think they make awesome games, but a lot of people enjoy calling Capcom Crapcom.

I buy what I like, it just happens that current trends in gaming means what I like is not in favor. I don't get FPSs, MMOs, or MOBAs.

I mean, if JRPGs, Warriors, and plat former were the hyped up AAA super popular titles I probably would become a sheep because I like those genres even when they are mediocre.

I didn't boycott Destiny or Driveclub or Assassin's Creed Unity out of any principle, they just do not appeal to me.

Not talking about not buying because others don't like, but keep promissing yourself not to buy because dev behaviour isn't acceptable, rage on Internet and buy it anyway.

A true sheep would be someone who reads about a bycott online and agrees to not buy anything from that publisher in the future regardless of the quality of their future games... that is just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

What is a justifiable reason?

My purchasing habits are definitely affected by my ideals. Until they started turning around recently I refused to purchase anything from Sony because of their shitty attitude and business sense. Now this gen it doesn't matter how many amazing games show up on Xbone; I refuse to ever buy one because of Microsoft's actions before launch, coupled with their non-gaming stuff as well. And if I were into Assassin's Creed games, you bet your bippy I wouldn't be touching Unity. I try not to be snobby about any of it; I just have opinions of companies and I feel some don't deserve to be supported. So no, I'm most certainly not a sheep.

It's extremely important to vote with your dollar. Unfortunately a lot of people just end up grumbling and giving in anyway. Or in most cases, the outspoken people on the internet do indeed end up not buying the things they claim to boycott, but the unwashed masses do, giving the impression that people are being hypocrites when they're really not. The people doing the boycotting make up a tiny portion of the gaming population, but they're the loudest, so they seem bigger.

Oh, well. I haven't found any situation like that. I don't buy AC but mainly because I find the games boring, not because the dev is incompetent. I think if a dev, not matter how crappy or incompetent they could get, pull out a decent/good/great/awesome game on the market, what possible reason would someone has for not getting it? Bitterness?
