Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Titanfall Should Stay Xbox One Console Exclusive

Companies make bad decisions all the time but we can't blame them, they already take huge risks. MS passed on GTA if I remember correctly and it was released exclusively on PS2, only then after it was released on Xbox. It goes both ways, we can't blame them for not knowing.

More games for more people is a good thing! Do PlayStation owners not deserve to enjoy Titanfall? What did they do wrong?

Well...Tomb Raider wasn't Sony's fault. The original remake actually sold better on the PS4 than the Xbone. Microsoft moneyhatted it because they don't have an answer for Uncharted 4 when it launches. Phil Spencer admitted that they tried to internally develop an answer for Uncharted multiple times and failed so they paid for timed exclusivity of Rise of Tomb Raider so they could seem like they had an exclusive answer to Uncharted.

As I've said in the past Microsoft works through controlling perception, not always showing whats real. They know they have no Uncharted and probably never will and yet Spencer and MS pull this because they are fans.

Sony lost the exclusivity of Final Fantasy because they refused to pay for its exclusivity. This leads me to believe MS paid a large sum of money to make the game available in the west for their console initially and then eventually in the east which gained a lot of Japanese backlash.

I agree though, more games is a good thing.

2) to many shooters on Xbox (the console is already know for its dude bro shooter games) the exclusive ones and how hard xbox promotes COD, so i rather see MS use that money to make different IPs in new genres of games, (heck now that i thinks about it even Sunset Overdrive can qualify as a shooter)

I've been saying this for a couple years now. I remember when I saw Titanfall for the first time I think my response was something like "Oh look, another exclusive FPS for Xbox."

The thing about Xbox is that it's worked itself into such a small little niche where it's become this FPS machine. If a gamer enjoys any other genres apart from sports and FPS, they're screwed.

You'd think with the way PS4 is killing them that they'd see a need to diversify their library a little bit.

Nah. Considering that the PS4 version of Destiny outsold Titanfall across on all 3 platforms, they'd be stupid to not bring it to PS4. Can you imagine? Titanfall with better graphics and in 1080p on PS4. I'd buy.

Answer me this. When FF, TR and MGS were PS1/PS2 exclusives, were they better than they are now? Do you know why that is? It's because when games are exclusive, the team is more focused and the company who's funding it doesn't have as much on the line because Sony (or whoever bought the rights for it's exclusivity) is putting alot of money behind it. This usually makes for a far better game and experience.

This is why I'm a fan of exclusives.

It's on PC as well. It's not an exclusive

Many people call it a "Microsoft Exclusive" which is one of the silliest termonologies I've ever heard in gaming.

Yeah, I guess that's correct as well. An exclusive game means you don't have to split your resources between platforms.

On the other hand though... The PS4 and Xbox One's architechtures are so similar, porting is easier than it's ever been. The only significant difference (in terms of coding) is the APIs they use... But I'm not a computer programmer, so maybe different APIs may as well be different architechture anyway...

So in essence, bringning a game to multiplatforms = lose creative ideas. The only reason FF turned bad is because of Square Enix's lack of creativity. Programmers are not responsible for bad game ideas. You guys are too funny. Like exclusives are so much better than multiplatform games.

The only reason Xbox got called the shooter box is because they have a successfull fps in Halo and later Gears. Sony has as many exclusive shooters if not more than MS but none of then could be as successfull as what MS has to offer.
