Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft "Work & Play" bundle: $199 for XboxLive, Office 365, Xbox Music, Skype

Microsoft is testing a new Work & Play Bundle that features four of its subscriptions: Office 365 Home, Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Music Pass, and Skype Unlimited World + WiFi. A one-year commitment will set you back $199, but you can only buy it by going to a physical Microsoft Store in the U.S.

Let’s do the math, shall we? Office 365 Home costs $9.99 per month, or $119.88 for the year. 12 months of Xbox Live Gold costs $59.99 while a 12-month Xbox Music Pass costs $99.90. Skype Unlimited World is $13.99 per month, though you can get the first month for free, so that’s $153.89.

All of that adds up to $433.66. So yes, $200 is more than a 50 percent discount.

Its a good deal if you were gonna subscribe to those services anyway, but to be honest. Live is the only one proprietary to its device(s). Dropbox and Drive over 365, YouTube/Spotify/etc over Music Pass, Google+ over Skype Unlimied

Seems like a good idea to spread there network services, but in sort of only works for people heavily in the ecosystem.

Agree that this is only for heavy users of all of those but I'll be honest, Google Drive is shit compared to Office 365.

Office 365 is a productivity suite.  So Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc available both online and offline.  With an Office 365 account, you get unlimited storage on OneDrive (a service similar to Google Drive or DropBox) that's integrated into Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Xbox Music Pass allows you to store your music collection online, while also streaming music and purchasing tracks or albums.  YouTube is an unorganized mess of videos of varying quality and YouTube buffers more than it plays.  While Spotify is a competant streaming service and does allow you to puchase tracks or albums, last I knew it didn't allow you to upload your music collection.

Skype is VOIP.  Google+ is a poorman's excuse for Facebook.  Google Voice has similar features to Skype, however Skype allows one to many video conferencing, Google Voice does not.

Skype, OneDrive, and Office 365 are all available for Windows PC and mobile devices, iOS, and Andriod phones.  Music Pass is the only one that currently is tied (as far as I know) to Windows and based on a rumor my understanding is that Microsoft is planning on rolling out an updated service so it'll likely be available on more devices.

Kidding right? Skype has like 220m subscribers or something ridiculous. It far surpasses Google+ I think ...

As for the rest, I think 365 now includes Dropbox? It's the far superior service for business as well.

Xbox Music I can't really reccomend over the others as I'm not clued up on any music service.

Xbox Music is more like Spotify Premium, and as long as you subscribe you don't have to pay for music.

This is a great deal I was pondering picking up an XB music deal since I already have office 365 this might push me over... They just need to make it available online and I'm
