If they can afford a long term multi-billion dollar project like creating a new console and manufacturing the initial shipments, i'm sure they could afford Atari :p

The OP is obviously jokig about Nintendo. Not that i can think of any reason Sony would want to buy them (even if they could). Outside of some strong IP and skilled studios, Nintendo don't have much to offer them that would be worth the cost. Sony already has a fully established gaming division and brand.
