I'd have to say Guacamelee. Wonderful sense of style, combat is fun and engaging, graphics and music are top notch, and it's up there with the best of the Metroidvanias. That's saying something.

But I also have to give a nod to Shovel Knight. The 8-bit graphics and sound just ooze charm and quality despite their dated nature. The controls are as tight and responsive as you can hope for, as well as being easy to get into but with a plethora of depth to work with. The bosses are fun, the levels are unique, and the difficulty is that perfect sense of "That one was on me, just one more time!"
