Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will Call of Duty AW be reviewed like Driveclub was?

Advanced Warfare isn't broken. So my answer to the OP title is "No"

so reviewers should deduct points or update their reviews to reflect that.

I disagree. Reviewers are telling you their experience with the game.

A game going to crap post review doesn't reflect the experience the reviewer had.

Ok, so let me ask a very simple question. Why do we read reviews in the first place? Isn't it to get an idea of whether we will like a certain game or not? How does a review that differs vastly from the product at its current state help one decide if a game is worth his money and time?

And the problem here is consistency. Either update all your reviews (content and scores) when they give a false impression to the reader about certain aspects of a game or don't update any of them.

Its not their job to keep reviews up to date when the developer/publisher drops the ball. They simply tell you their experience with the game during the review. When critics were playing it the servers were working fine and reviews reflect that.

Also, you have to consider many critics were disappointed with the gameplay whether it be online or offline.

You fail to address the second point, which is the point of this thread. If you're gonna update your review of Simcity, DriveClub, etc, then then you have to do it with the rest of the games when there is a siginifcant change post game or not do it at all.

If Driveclub huge update that makes significant improvment to the game, perhaps critics should do a new review.

But for online features that will eventually be fixed, I don't think a review update is necessary.

Frankly, we should be more concerned about what Sony is going to do to compensate players and less concerned about critics.

BF4 launch was worse and went on for nearly a year. What compensation did EA give for that? I paid for the season pass like a lot of others and was pissed off with it. At least Driveclub with the discount was very cheap and is the sort of game you'll play offline more.

I remember i had to restart the campaign in bf4 3 times just to finish it because the save data was being deleted. Online was unbearable for months and months. How many reviewers revisited that or gave it crap scores?

My point is driveclub got the flack because it was a hyped exclusive. BF4 got it's good review scores just like AW and frankly the reviews have no reflection on the product people will actually buy at launch. You shouldn't give special treatment for 1 game and not another. Gears of War 2 is another example. Stellar reviews but the game was hideous online for months and months.

Actually, BF4 got a ton of flack but the online features still weren't as broken as Driveclub.

Driveclub is getting more attention than it deserves because that game is a kind of a disaster. Even among Sony fans its deemed a disappointment and online is broken.

It sounds like you're rewriting history, Sony isn't the only company that ever got flack for online problems.

Did BF4 get low reviews for the broken online and very broken campaign? NO.

Did driveclub? Yes.

I as a Sony fan deem both disasters but 1 of the games cost be 60€ more than the other so i know which pisses me off more.

And if you read the BF forums BF4 was a fcukin monstrosity. The amount of people on YT and their forums saying they'll be lucky to get the next game and even if they do they def won't be getting premium. I'm one of those. So to say BF4 launch wasn't as disastrous for EA is untrue. That fuck up will cost them millions in sales for their next game.

How many low review scores did Driveclub get solely from broken online play? You make it sound like most critics lowered their score due to online issues. The only website I know that actually did it was Polygon and its not reflected on Metacritic.

What you need to do is clarify you're bitter about Polygon. This thread implies many critics did it.

And even as bad as BF4 online is/was, it still wasn't as bad as Driveclub.
