The AI in Halo 4 is actually among the best I have seen in a game, some enemies behave in a very unpredictable way.

agreed

Yeah the enemies in Halo 4 were quite unpredicatable most of the time.

Play The Last of Us a game with the best AI ever.

i have played the ps4 version , an d they arefar from the best. they are not bad but very inconsistent. the game was very easy because the AI werent that smart.halo , fear are the still the best for fps Ai for last gen and this gen i have to say, that goes to alien isolation.

Does the AI get better in Alien Isolation? I just finished the hospital ward (chapter 5 I think). So far the humans weren't smart (running into a bottleneck one by one to get smacked in the head), nor the working joes, and the alien randomly roams the area near you or runs around in the ceiling. He can't find me under a table but gets me when I'm in a designated hiding spot. (Btw totally breaks immersion when Ripley slams the door shut getting in a hiding spot)
The game is very good at building tension, and I get why the alien hovers near you to keep the danger level up. But it's only challenging because it's one hit death and reload from last save point. I would compare the AI level of the alien with the ghost behaviour of pacman.
I'm still loving it, sneaking around with that nerve wracking motion tracker out. Setting off alarms and disabling doors to trap or delay the alien didn't work at all though. So far TLoU's AI was much better.

Are you playing the gane on hard?  its mainly the xenormorphs thats the smart one plus if you are playing on xbone with kinect on , then making real world noise makes it even worse as they will know where you are hiding . With the alien doing that guarantees you death lol. delaying doors works, but you have to hide and wait till it goes way rom your motion tracker and once you do that , you have to run till your next checkpoint.  Don't knwo how the humans are without that .  I don't know. TLOU ai really was very disappointing. as someone said here, they wre very predicatbel and provided no challenge for me. i ofetn could run  up to them and kill them , and they wouldn't even notice i was there.  Not only that , if you get spotted, you only have run away till you out of their sight and the Ai will completely forgot it ever saw you lol.

Destiny AI is no better than halo CE. Its actually a direct copy and in some ways worse.

so u think its a bad thing? I never played any Halo but Destiny's AI is one of the best i saw in any video game to date.

Add me if u want :)

I turned the sound feature off since I have the baby monitor sitting close to the ps camera. I don't want the alien alerted every time he coughs or static interferes :) I love the ds4 feature for the motion tracker. The light bar pulsing and flashing green with the motion tracker and the pinging sound coming from the controller are great features. Silly Alien doesn't hear the motion tracker pinging like mad right next to him though. (Does he hear the motion tracker when you have the sound recording on?)

I always follow him on the motion tracker, wait till he goes away so I know where he was last on the map. Then lock the door if possible with a rewire box. Yet he simply pops back up on the other side. He can run very fast through that ceiling apparently. Running to my next checkpoint usually doesn't work (with the alien) since he just appears up in front of me again. (Maybe there's a bunch of them, I've only seen one at a time though) Got to sneak from cover to cover. It's random anyway, sometimes running works. Sneaking is safer.

Did you play TLoU on hard? Running up to kill them had very limited success, plus in the stages where they are searching for you you have to sneak around to get behind them first or they'll alert the rest. I had to run quite far to reset them too. And ofcourse they 'reset', the game would be frustrating having to reload everytime you're spotted... Rushing certainly doesn't work in groups of clickers. Anyway it's part of the gameplay, sneak up, take them out one by one. Doesn't work everywhere but where it works it's by design. Plus I've had lots of fun fire fights after I got discovered.

Ah that makes sense. Fair enough. the game wuld be impossible if it was turned on.  Ya he does hear it. i got killed a few times with kinect on cause of the noise it makes as i wantd to know where he was. Not all the time. the times i tried to sneak. as soon as he walks away from teh motion tracker view, it decides to turn back and checks everything again and sometiems he won't leve the romm where i am hiding as it suspects i am there. Yea the AI is unpredicatable which si good .

Yea i did and nearly finished the dlc on survival . its quite an easy game due to the predicable ai. Not saying that they are dumb but they are inconsistent.  I was walking about the snow level with joel. I used to make noise to attract their attention, then run outside a house and go around the back. eventually the AI stops looking and then you can go back to the same place and do the stealth kill. i then repeat till the entire room is dead  lol.  I agree not with clickers. but the only reason why they are powerful is because its one hit kill. Fair enough. i was expecting more liek fear or halo Ai hence why i got disappointed cause halo on legendary or just below , will challenge you lol.

Only when enemies incessantly stay behind cover so I can never shoot them will I be satisfied.

Fuck advanced AI. I pay good money to buy a game so i can beat the shit out of it not so it can beat the shit out of me. If I wanted to fight intelligent AI I'd launch an attack on the military IRL.

I think the last game where enemy AI was a huge leap forward and beyond anything at the time was the original Half-Life. The enemy AI actually appeared to have tactical awareness (they flanked you, flushed you out with grenades, would hide when numbers were low, move from cover to cover etc.) at a time when most games' AI could barely knew to take cover.

Since then, I've been impressed by the AI in FEAR, Killzone 2, TLoU, Halo and Destiny, but nothing has been as revolutionary as AI in the original Half-Life.

After observing the Alien's behaviour another night, he is getting quite predictable. Nearly always doubling back, taking a few seemlingly randomized patrol routes before going back into the ceiling. Don't follow him, just wait until the dot begins travelling fast or outside the walls compared to the map. He also tries to psych you out now and then by homing in on your location in the ceiling, or quickly running past above you. One part he was simply stuck on a patrol route, seemed the game wanted me to run past, to herd me into a scripted trap.

It's a fun cat and mouse game anyway, and being able to use a noise maker to get rid of the humans by alien makes up for the rest. Plus when I do get caught it still makes my hair stand up, something in those sound effects :)

Currently I have 2% health left after the annoying trap part where your health slowly decreases. Not all materials for a medkit and humans guarding the hallway in front of me. I accept the challenge.

Ready at Dawn seem to be hyping up the enemy AI as being ferocious but intelligent on a similar level if not greater than the human characters. Hopefully that portrays well as that would be genuinely frightening.
