I always found funny throwing a sticky grenade into a grunt, only for him to go running like crazy (and generally into his teammates, which result in a win/win situation).

The other option is to have all AI 's that get stickied, run into you. And than the game is automatically hard. And people would start rage quiting. And making bad reviews. Like the grandes being worthless. Since you couldn't use them, unless you had cover. So AI's are probably gonna stay dumb to a degree.

Halo did a good job of having some smart and some dumb ai. the little grunts were always a little dumber in their reactions than the other enemies

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

In most of the modern games AI is worse than in Halo: CE :p

The Last of Us has some pretty great AI. I remember RE4 blowing my mind when enemies started dodging my bullets. Ashley wasn't very good but at least you could make her hide in a box every fight. There was a lot of hype over the AI in RAGE.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Outside of the KINGS - F.E.A.R. (both PC and 360), Killzone 2, and the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, I'd mostly agree.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - had great AI. I almost forgot about that game. One of the few games i never tried to run and gun. every fight you had to be careful

Exactly. I've never died so often, and so quick, in a game before that! They had pinpoint accuracy!

same here. But it didnt kill the fun for me either, in fact it made every fight feel better for winning (or for finding a way around the fight). I need to play the other games in the series, but haven had time to get into them.

Destiny's AI is pretty good... the enimies covers, try to attack from different sides at the same time and have a sense of preservation amazing.

It even fun when you face a group of hives that are around you near to kill you and you use the Bladedancer super... they immediately fell the fear and go back one for each side trying to not be in group and far away possible from the played.

It is fun to trick the AI.

Play The Last of Us a game with the best AI ever.

not trying to flame, but you sure about that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i03gk2cVcKI

Wow he has the most annoying laugh. Also do you really think that is a good example? The game would have been annoying as shit if Ellie kept getting spotted.

Meh, I dont want to turn this into a flame war, I enjoyed TLOU, I really did, but the AI is some of the worst I've ever seen. The clicker sections were not as intense as they should have been because the AI was so poor. Yes, I can understand giving the friendly AI some leway, but it completely breaks an otherwise solid stealth experience. Human AI on the contrary was great in open spaces, but no so much in closed environments.

That's excactly what you want. You keep talking about TLoU AI. You just want to start it off then bail out of the thread.

The enemy AI in Destiny behaves like the ones in Halo CE but a bit worse. Still it's better than in most games. People should demand better AI as this would make gameplay seem next gen. But graphics seem to be the only next gen feature people are craving about.

I read a long time ago that it would be easy to create characters that react realistically but that gamers would be frustrated because they wouldn't feel overpowered or that good AI would easily overwhelm them. That "good AI" is playing against a human in multiplayer.

Yea that makes sense, but AI should adapt to player's skills. A true triple A game should have this imo. If you're too good or too bad it would adjust accordingly. Similar to a Drivatar system where enemies behave on how you behave or how your friends behave. Enemies could realise that you spend too much time in cover so they could change their tactict  to incite you to play differently.

Hey guys! Let's name some games with really good Artificial Intelligence! Not super tough but just smart enough to make things challenging.

I think MGS5 will be pretty high up there. The Ground Zeroes demo was decent in that regard.
