Forums - PC Discussion - COD:AW Impressions

Was going to be a long in depth review, but I cant bring myself to play it for more than 30 minutes.

Gunplay is terrible, very weird disconnect between the player and the gun, and the fired bullets and their impacted target, feels clunky and awkward, was already sick to death of the token black guy barking orders within 5 minutes of play, and even with every possilble setting maxed out, it just doesnt feel like a graphically impressive title, litterally just feels like every other cod plus "babbies first reflection shaders" syndrome.

Exo suit abilities are okay  guess, but dont really add anything to the game for me, so you jump over a bus rather than run around it, so you jump down several floors rather than para/chute/take stairs or elevator.

textures all seem to have a weird level of contrast and harshness in color differing, gives the overall image a rather tacky sheen, but worst of all is allie/enemy AI, enemy sits behind his wall, i walk around side and he just sits there continuing to shoot from cover, waiting for me to take him down, and the allies whome have player effecting collision boxes are so tightly tied to their pre-set routes that getting in their way gets you pushed out of the way, or off the edge of a ridge, the complete lack of any real expansive areas makes the story progression linear as hell and thus extremely boring.

Litterally nothing about this game thus far feels worthy of praise, so much so that I am genuinely considering just not bothering to play further and simply uninstalling it.

So there you have it, i am largely unimpressed and actively disliking the game, how about you?

I am fairly enjoying it so far, I would put it under mw2 but that isn't saying much considering how low the franchise has gone since then. I think for people that like the cod style of a game, its great but for people that don't, well they wont. I personally like it and its certainly the "best cod in years" but thats not very hard to achieve since the recent ones have been shit

At least its playable during launch loll and I do think that the spawn locations have been improved drastically. I don't think I have been spawn killed even once yet

A lot of focus on the visuals for a COD game. That's not really why I play them as I've never found them to be visually impressive.

The disconnect with the weapons is true for every COD after the original in SP (one of the main reasons I hate the campaigns). In multiplayer they give feedback in the form of a sound every time your bullet connects, which helps.

AI has always sucked in SP as far as I can remember. Everything is scripted.

The multiplayer is an improvement over Ghosts. Probably on par with BO2. The SP I don't know or care about.

The campaign is disappointing. I'm about 8 of 15 missions in and it feels painfully scripted, even more than usual. If I simply step somewhere I'm not supposed to its "mission failed" and that occurs far too often. There have been some cool moments, but not very good thus far.

I'm one of those people that actually plays CoD for the campaign (I enjoyed the CoD:Ghosts campaign), so this has been kind of a let down. However, this is the most I ever enjoyed CoD PvP. I like PvP games with verticality like Halo and Titanfall, this games delivers that so I'll probably spend a good number of hours with PvP.
