Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How many people are excited about amiibo functionality?

Are you excited about amiibos?

Yes 102 44.54%

No 90 39.30%

I'm just here to troll...so... 35 15.28%

Total:227

Only how they work in Smash, for the rest I don't care.

Hey guys...if Amiibo truly added the functionality you're looking for (new modes, levels, etc), don't you think the same people would be complaining about Nintendo requiring you to purchase physical DLC to play the real game? It's kind of a fine line that Nintendo has to walk here between giving you a bang for your buck, and not holding your wallet ransom just to play the game.

Mario Kart 8 functionality is just a copout I think. Why would I need a Link costume for my Mii if Link is in the game? Mario makes even less sense.

I'm not really that interested in them.

I was considering picking up a Marth and Fox one for the sake of display, but after the quality drop they showed off recently, I could care less.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Hmm lets see.

1. Amiibo lets me play the co-op modes or have my amiibo be my teammate in smash battles, ect in smash.
2. Costume in Mario Kart 8.
3. A NEW Weapon in Hyrule Warriors.

I'd say it has been worth it so far. I also get a Figurine out of it, not some unseen digital dlc purchase. I have a actual physical figurine.

Heck the Hyrule Warriors alone justified link. I mean a new weapon. I was expecting just a new costume at best, or something like what the others do on hyrule warriors, where i get a random material or something. But a whole new weapon. That is a lot of work for something that only Nintendo sees the money from.

Basically yeah they shouldn't have been made in the first place.

Great use for smash
Mediocre use in MK8, just mii costumes
And Hyrule Warriors, well, they literally just give you a random item. It would be awesome if you could actually play as the amiibo, would love to play as kirby in Hyrule Warriors

It's just a CPU character in Smash how is that a great use?

Because you can level it up to lvl 50, then fight against it or team up with it

And you need a figure to do that?

Ya but you can take it to your friend's house and play on their wii u and it will still have all the data

So far, I am fine with it.

HyWa is a fine line but the game already has DLC, and there's more than enough content in the base game that one weapon is not going to make me cry or rip my hair out. Looking at it positively, it just gives Link's amiibo some genuine use in the game and adds some value to the thing outside of Smash partner.

I'll get one. I am not sure which one, though. I wanted Peach at first but the model is fugly, so maybe C Falcon for the MK8 outfit
