Rockstar Games confirms resolution and frame rate details for console versions; PC iteration will support 4K resolution.

Grand Theft Auto V will run in 1080p/30fps acrossPlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Rockstar Games announced today, following news that the game willfeature a first-person mode.

Rockstar said: "Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC features hundreds of additions and enhancements including 1080p resolution at 30fps on PS4 and Xbox One."

Meanwhile, the PC version of GTA V will support 4K resolution.

Rockstar also confirmed more details about GTA V's first-person mode today. These are listed below. For even more about the first-person perspective, check out the new trailer above and a ton of new images in the gallery at the bottom of this post.

 

  • Only available in Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions
  • Available with single button press, letting you switch between third- and first-person
  • Includes first-person cover system
  • Introduces new targeting system
  • Will feature a more traditional FPS control scheme
  • Thousands of new animations
  • First-person mode will be available in both GTA V and GTA Online

I was cheering for 1080p @ 60fps.

So... 1080p 60fps on PC which is capable of 4k... Fap Fap Fap. Sucks that we have to wait till January but oh well! I can't wait for those fap worthy mods!

I do prefer 720p/60, 900p/60, 1080/60. Sometimes I think developers sacrifice 30fps in order to achieve 1080p, thats a shame, but if they don't do so, the outrage would be bigger.

I feel the same way on this. If going with a lower rez gives better fps then why not do it.



I'd hoped for a 30+ variable fps with a lock option (60fps was never going to happen), but i expect most will be happy enough with the upgrade if it's fully locked at 30fps. A jump from 720p/20-30fps to 1080p/30fps + the visual upgrades will be seen as pretty significant to most.

I'll be getting it on PC regardless

because a game looking good sells your game to casuals better than a game performing well. casuals = $$$ and that's who Rockstar has been targeting with GTA V.
