Forums - Gaming Discussion - COD is still a money making machine

A buddy of mine is a manager at a gamestop and he informed me that his store did over 30k in sales in 2 days for the release of COD AW.  He said that most of the sales sales were for x1 as well.  He also said this is almost double to what Destiny brought in the first 2 days.   Guess all those analysts were wrong yet again.

It still makes money, giving a big profit to activision, but it has got weak, cause lower quality and competition from other games(like destiny, battlefield for example)
Also its popularity i think is getting worse

How does it compare to the launches of CoD at its peak? If MW3 and Black Ops did 60K each on their opening day then the analysts are right, CoD is declining. Wouldn't be surprised if it did better than Ghosts though, the advertising for this game makes it look better than Ghosts.

And Kevin Spacey...'nuff said.

This year it had no competition from Battlefield though. I don't know how much overlap there is, but that may have played a role.

COD is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Go xbox one! Ps4 did okay im sure too. Well we will see

I'm pretty sure 1 gamestop can't stock as many as 30K copies of one game. Besides, it won't sell as much as even Ghosts!

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

A buddy of mine also works in Gamestop and he said they sold 50,000 copies just on PlayStation 4. In fact, nobody was buying the Xbox version so they are now burning them to heat the building and save on bills. Needless to say, I don't believe you.

Maybe he means 30k dollars.. which at 60 dollars a copy is like 500 copies

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I can 100% garantee that the game will sell more worldwide on the PS4 (just look at the installed base), so i assume this is a US only thing.

Anyway, yes CoD is still the most popular game. The problem is that its in decline because of the yearly sequals.
