Comparing the sales of an established franchise on an userbase of 80m+ with that of a new IP on two new consoles with combine sales of less than 20m?
Ok then.

Mr Puggsly said: Granted, if we include 7th gen then Destiny has trounced Halo 4 in the first 5 weeks of sales. Its currently at 6.8 million. Halo 4 was 5.7 million at week 5. While Destiny on 8th gen is 5.1 million. By week 10 Halo 4 reached 7.4 million. It should also be noted Halo 4 was released closer to the holiday. So that may have gave it a sales edge. |
How many 360s sold/installed base when Halo 4 released, how many PS4? Which one is a new franchise, which one was the sequel of a proven popular franchise? /thread?

Well Destiny has sold better on 8th gen than 7th gen with a significantly smaller userbase. So that argument doesn't always work.
Like I said before, I could have said Halo 4 sold better than Destiny on Sony platforms or Xbox platforms. They would give Destiny the userbase advantage, but Halo 4 would still be ahead.
Destiny has sold better than many established games. So again, that argument doesn't always work.

not sure if this is a fair comparison as everyone and their mama had a 360 when this game out so it's a given that it will sell more
PSN & XBOX GT : cutzman25
We all know destiny already failed to become THE next scifi shooter. Not lets see if bungie and activison can do some dmg control so it will become a decent selling multiplat ip. Destiny also will have zero holiday bump I suspect. Maybe if they run cheap 30 bucks promotions or better.
Great! Halo 4 sold incredibly well. Its impressive that Halo 4 sold that well but Destiny is a new IP.
