Forums - Sales Discussion - The upcoming X1 price cut will make it match the PS4 sales in the US

vgcharts front page says PS4 is 13 million

PS4 is overtracked.

Um.... As of the end of September, Sony shipped 13.5 million PS4's. If anything, the PS4 is undertracked and severely so. Not sure what led you to think that it is overtracked only that you wish that it to be so.... :S

Sony shipped 13.5M as of end of September.

MS shipped "almost" 10M as of not so long ago.

Gap is 2M. Yeah lol keep telling yourself that and it may become true.

I'm not sure whether TheDrill is being serious, or if he's just trying to amuse us.

MS didn't even say almost. Mendhi said that "shortly, [MS] will have sold into retailers more than 10 million consoles." Major Nelsen also tweeted that MS shipments are "approaching" 10 million. Those statements are open to very wide interpretation...

Microsoft just announced that the price cut tripled sales in the USA and shipped 10 millions worldwide (frontpage)
the gap between the PS4 and the X1 is only 2 million worldwide now.

Huh? Are you suggesting the Xbox One is undertracked by 5M units?

According to Microsoft it is

PS4 was at 13.5M shipped at the end of September. The Xbox One in mid-November is "almost" at 10M (Just at the time when we're stocking up for the holidays)

I wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 is at around 16M shipped at this point, or "almost" 18M (Again, stocking up for holidays)

I can't believe we're all arguing "shipped" numbers. Since when did that matter? It's sold through numbers that count!

Toastboy alt?

I think the price cut, once the dust has settled will put Xb one's baseline pretty much on par with PS4. But that's relatively short term as there is a PS4 price cut coming in 2015, almost guaranteed. It will also be a $100 cut IMO and MS will really have no where to go. They can price match at $299 but I can't see them dropping all the way to $250 just 2 years into the cycle. Once the console price is under $300 more cuts won't make that much of a difference, until the price drops below $200.
